Hawaii: Koi Fish, Poke Bowl, Waikiki Sunset

Aloha! 🙂 It’s time to eat after spending most of the day at Kailua Beach and Lanikai Beach! Here’s me at the Ala Moana Center. This shopping center was so close and convenient considering where I stayed. Let’s go eat!

My travel buddy had the Poke Bowl at “Baanga Baanga” — The Spicy Ahi. This trendy food item is a rice bowl topped off with cubes of marinated, raw fish and vegetables. Food for thought, Poke means “to slice” in Hawaiin.

We also had the Coconut Bubble Tea and an Acai Bowl at “Zagu Original Crystal & Pearl Shakes.” He enjoyed his coconut bubble tea while I indulged in my all-time favorite treat in Hawaii — the Acai Bowl. The employee that made my bowl did a beautiful job! What an artist he is! Thank you. 🙂

Don’t worry everyone, I ate before heading to the Ala Moana Center. I didn’t just eat sweets for dinner. I had Mandarin Orange Chicken. Mmm!

*Five FUN FACTS about Koi Fish*

  1. Koi fish and goldfish have the same ancestor.
  2. Koi fish releases ammonia into the water. If there’s too many koi fish in a single pond, that can lead to poisoning. 🙁
  3. Koi fish are very intelligent. They have the ability to recognize the person that’s feeding them!
  4. In Japan, koi fish symbolizes wealth and success.
  5. The longest living koi fish was named Koi Hanako. She lived for 226 years!

I adore koi fish. They’re such fascinating creatures!

At Waikiki Beach

Watching the sunset at Waikiki Beach never gets old. I can do it every night. ^.^

Goodnight Waikiki. I’ll see you again another time. I promise. 🙂

Have you ever tried out the food court at the Ala Moana Center? They have a wonderful selection to choose from! Only if I could eat an Acai Bowl every day. 😉
