My Acne Journey: 6 Weeks Results…
Hello everyone! 👋🏻 Here are my results for the 6th week! Wow, I’m slowly moving on to 2 months on this acne journey. Unbelievable! 😲 Fortunately, my skin is looking so much better this week. 👍🏻 I think my skin is almost clear. I just have post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and acne marks to fade. Once in a while I’ll get a pimple from a product that I’m trying out. I need to stop trying out new products, lol. It’s not doing my skin any good, but I have my reasons for trying them out. More on these products below, keep reading! I learned a lot during this process even when it was painful. 😛
This week was a bit different. I was bumped down to a lower concentration of tret. That’s what I used for the rest of the week. After the first day of using my new acne treatment (with the sandwich method), my skin felt sensitive, and it started to peel in patches, especially around my mouth area. Skin was literally coming off. I peeled a small sheet of skin off just because, haha. It was hanging off of my face. You know, it was fun, LOL. I took 2 days off for my skin to heal. The second time I used tret this week, after my skin healed, my skin didn’t peel. I applied it directly on my skin with no signs of irritation. No redness. My skin just took it for what it is. I woke up the next morning with no irritation, redness, or peeling. The third time, I didn’t experience any irritation or redness either when applied to the skin, but there was some peeling going on the next morning. So it looks like the lower concentration is working on my skin. I think I’m going to stick with it from now on and see what happens. I’m using it every night with minimal irritation, which is great. My face doesn’t even burn at this point, but that might change in the next week or so. I just hope it continues to work without any irritation. But we’ll have to see how my skin responds to this new treatment. FYI, I stopped using lactic acid even though I loved it. I’m going to stick to using tret right now. If it doesn’t work in the next few months, I’ll switch over to lactic acid. I’m losing patience with tret already. haha.
Products I tried this week…
La Roche-Posay Anthelios Body & Face Mineral Sunscreen Gentle Lotion SPF 50:
I was looking for a new sunscreen, and I thought this would work. It’s been a little over a week of using it now. I haven’t noticed any breakouts from it. Hopefully! I’m crossing my fingers on this one because I really like this product. It feels (kinda) lightweight and somewhat moisturizing (not too much moisture). It doesn’t irritate my skin, doesn’t make my face itch, and provides high SPF with mineral filters. The white cast is subtle. Yes, it still has a white cast. If it doesn’t break me out, it’s all good! I’m still hanging on tight!
CeraVe Hydrating Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30 Face Sheer Tint:
This product was not good on my skin even though I loved how moisturizing it is. It looked terrible on my complexion (orange). Might’ve been a little too moisturizing, which in turn caused clogged pores and a bunch of breakouts that popped out of nowhere randomly. It looks oily and greasy on the skin. It did help to calm irritated skin, but the negatives were too much for me. Out it goes!
I stopped using…
Also, during this week, I stopped using another product. My skin care routine has been decreasing each week, lol. This is the product! 👇🏻
SOME BY MI Niacin 30 Days Miracle Brightening Sleeping Mask:
I decided to stop using SOME BY MI Niacin 30 Days Miracle Brightening Sleeping Mask. The reason why is because it dries out my skin so much. I didn’t realize it was drying my skin out until I stopped using a bunch of skin care products. Out of all of my skin care products I have, I wondered what was drying my skin out. All signs pointed to this brightening sleeping mask. I stopped using it every day too. I was only using it a few times a week, and my skin still felt dry and flaky after using it. I don’t think it’s worth it to keep in my routine if that’s what it’s doing to my skin. It did brighten my skin at first but that didn’t last too long. I’m over it. Once again, removing unnecessary products.
And I stopped using a moisturizer. 😲
Yep, you read that right. I decided to stop using my moisturizer. The one I have is Eucerin Q10 Anti-Wrinkle Face Cream. I’m questioning why I’m still getting sebaceous filaments and blackheads. Eucerin is a heavier, richer moisturizer for my skin type. I thought it was helping or at least helping with my dry skin, but I think it has exacerbated other issues like clogging my pores. My face feels really dirty with this cream on my face. It feels very uncomfortable on my skin even though it’s moisturizing. I didn’t use it one morning and my face felt so much cleaner. I tried not using it at night and my face felt 10x cleaner and less heavy. I could sleep better. I think heavy creams, moisturizers just don’t work on my skin as I had hoped. BUT! Wait a minute! I’m still using this product. I love it as an eye cream. That moves me to the next point…
I won’t purchase most of my eye creams again. I feel like they have done nothing for my eye area compared to Eucerin Q10 Anti-Wrinkle Face Cream, which is way less expensive and more effective at moisturizing the skin around the eyes. I think Eucerin is going to replace my eye creams. Let’s see how this goes! So far it’s working like a charm! Yay! 😀
Moving on to the 7th week! 🎉
