My post workout protein smoothie.

I used Trader Joe’s Organic Pea Protein Powder Unsweetened for the first time. If you missed out on my introduction to Trader Joe’s Organic Pea Protein Powder Unsweetened, go here. Trader Joe’s Organic Pea Protein Powder Unsweetened is a vegan protein supplement made of organic pea protein isolate. I’ve used pea protein powders before many moons ago. They weren’t that great during that time. This was a long time ago. Vegan, plant-based protein supplements weren’t as big as whey (milk-based) protein supplements during that time. They weren’t palatable at all. They were pretty repulsive in taste. I couldn’t even finish them. I guess you get the idea. Well, it’s 2018 now. I hope changes have occurred since then.

I added organic chia seeds to mine to receive the health benefits of omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, iron, antioxidants, and so much more! I used two tablespoons this time. The more chia seeds, the thicker the consistency the smoothie will be.

Trader Joe’s Organic Pea Protein Powder Unsweetened smells like a pea protein powder. That’s exactly what it is. Don’t expect it to smell wonderful. It’s an unsweetened, plain pea protein powder. The powder feels very smooth and soft to touch. Other pea protein powders I have used before were gritty and unpleasant. They were completely awful. I don’t have any issues with the texture of this particular pea protein powder. It blended quite well into my green smoothie. Better than I expected. Taste-wise, I can taste the pea protein powder in my smoothie even when I add fruit to it. There is an aftertaste, but it isn’t too bad. I think it’s because I’ve had worse. So far, it’s alright. I’ll continue to use it to see if I like it or not. Have you tried Trader Joe’s Organic Pea Protein Powder Unsweetened? If so, share your experience!
