My Tretinoin Journey: 1 Week Results!!

Here’s my WEEK 1 results using Tretinoin 0.05 Cream! 🙂
The first thing I noticed is that this cream has a comedogenic ingredient. It is isopropyl myristate. That worried me. I don’t want any more acne when I’m trying to get rid of acne in the first place. I decided to bite the bullet knowing how much I love retinoids from my past experiences with them. Sometimes, the ‘formula’ works out in the end even though it has a comedogenic ingredient(s). Everyone’s skin is different and react differently to ingredients/skin care product formulations. So, this cream is very potent. You don’t need a lot to cover the whole face. Just a pea size amount is more than enough. It absorbs into the skin very well. It didn’t cause my skin to burn or irritate it. It wasn’t difficult to use. I liked the way it felt on my skin. Here’s my day by day experience with Tretinoin! I hope this is helpful! 😁
Day 1: After the first night of using the cream, I didn’t notice anything different about my skin. I was worried that it might not work and clog my pores, but I continued on. haha.
Day 2: I noticed some cystic acne. One on my neck and chin. They popped up out of nowhere. I left them alone. My skin did peel a little bit but not by much.
Day 3: More acne popped up out of nowhere. In the most random places too. On my forehead, near my jawline, around my mouth area. I’m very prone to breakouts in those areas. *sigh* The pimples are quite large and painful! Ouch! Here’s the good news, I began to shed a ton more. Skin would just slough off easily. 👍
Day 4: More acne! 😭 I don’t like what’s happening to my skin, but I know it’s for the best (hopefully), lol. I have some red spots and big sore pimples! Some are really random! I have more dead skin peeling off, so I know that it’s working…let’s move on to the next day and see what happens!!
Day 5: Woke up this morning with red, irritated acne spots. They are really coming out now. I truly hope they’ll go away. I feel like adding BP back into my skin care routine. BUT! I really dislike using it in the morning. I want to take advantage of my serums instead. Keep my oily skin at bay and treat it gently with my ‘gentle’ BHA and AHA serums. At the same time, keep my skin hydrated. I also want to keep using Tretinoin 7 days a week at night. Maybe spot treat? I don’t know. We will have to see how my skin reacts to Tretinoin first. Hmmm.
Day 6: I’m on Day 6. 😲 The red, irritated acne spots have subsided a little. They still need time to heal. The texture of my skin looks good! It’s smooth! I’ve been keeping my skin hydrated in the AM every day to prevent my skin from drying out as much as possible. I can feel my skin tingle when I use my morning skin care products on my skin. My skin feels slightly sensitive. My Vitamin C BB Cream (pictured) is doing a great job at maintaining moisture in my skin and protecting my skin. 🙂 Sun protection is very, very important. 👍
Day 7: Last day of week 1! Who knew it would end so fast. Skin sensitivity is still there. Stubborn clogged pores are coming out/came out. Some have healed, others are in the process of healing. I have red marks now. 😢 Complexion looks smoother, softer, and more even toned. I must say, my skin looks way better on day 7 vs day 1. I’m seeing improvements in my acne and skin texture!
There you go! 1 week on Tret! Stay tuned for WEEK 2! Coming up soon! 🙂
