My Tretinoin Journey: Week 6 Results

Here are my WEEK 6 Results! 🙂
Day 36: It’s the beginning of WEEK 6! 🤯 Should I start panicking because I’m not fully clear yet? lol. I’m just kidding. 😉 So last night, I woke up in the middle of the night, my skin was soooo itchy. I took some petroleum jelly and smeared it all over my face! Just like that, my skin felt better. I didn’t wake up with any new pimples doing this (thank goodness). This morning, I applied petroleum jelly to my face too. My skin just calmed down after that. It works, and I’m going to use it when my skin needs it. 🙂
I did not get any new pimples today. I’m just recovering from the ones I’ve been dealing with. Something is telling me that some of the pimples were from dryness and skin irritation in general. Not from the actual initial breakout (if that makes any sense). All of the dryness and itchiness just exacerbated it. Many of the pimples have reduced in size and disappeared just by moisturizing my skin. My skin looks softer and smoother now. Once again, no new pimples have emerged. Hmmmm.
I’m back on Tret tonight, but I’m going to go about it differently. I’m going to apply moisturizer, Tret, then another moisturizer on top. What I’m doing is buffering. This is going to decrease the irritation that comes along with the use of Tret while reaping the benefits. I followed this method tonight, and my skin feels amazing. There was no burning, dryness, irritation of any kind. Tret just smoothed over my skin like butter. The moisturizer made it much easier to apply Tret too. Keep in mind that I did wait between product applications, so each product application has time to absorb into my skin before the next step.
I hope this works! 🙂
Day 37: I woke up this morning with skin that wasn’t red or irritated. It looked good. No new pimples. At the moment, the left side of my face has two pimples. I’m not even kidding. The right side of my face is more troublesome. It’s ‘purging’ at a slower rate. I’ll let it go at its own pace. I don’t have any cysts. Only tiny little zits. I think they’ll vanish by the end of the week (hopefully). I have some forehead acne. There’s about 7ish pimples, but they are tiny. Most of these breakouts are shrinking the more I moisturize my skin. Moisturizing is very important to get through the initial breakout/purge. Very, very important! 👈🏻 My skin looks wayyyy better now compared to a couple of days ago! 🥰
I had to stop using Derma E Anti-Wrinkle Renewal Cream due to it giving me whiteheads. But here’s a good idea, I’ll use Cos De BAHA MA Peptide Cream in place of it. lol. It’s not a super heavy moisturizer, but it works to keep my skin hydrated. I haven’t noticed any breakouts from it yet. My skin doesn’t feel too dry anymore doing this method. Obviously, I’m not trying to get whiteheads…goodbye Derma E Anti-Wrinkle Renewal Cream. You suck! 👿
Day 38: This morning I noticed that my skin is peeling. 🙂 Since I’ve been moisturizing my skin, there is no redness or irritation going on. My skin did get a little itchy last night. I think it’s because my moiturizer isn’t ‘heavy’. There’s no way for me to use a heavy, thicker moiturizer without breaking out. I think I’m good for now until I find something more hydrating that’s suitable for oily, acne-prone skin.
My skin peeled at night. 🙂 Sooo happy! One new pimple appeared after the peel, but I’m just so happy that my skin didn’t feel/look irritated or red after peeling. It doesn’t feel too dry either! The skin just came off! 😁 All of this moisturizing is helping the process go by much smoother! My skin looks glowy and healthy afterwards! If it keeps going like this, it’s going to be awesome! I’m excited to see results in a few months. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 I’m already seeing improvements after making this change. 😊😊
Day 39: I noticed some new pimples on the left side of my face. About 4 of them. My forehead has 2. Right side has 1. Looks like acne has diminished tremendously. Obviously after peeling, some new ones will pop up, especially with my skin type. I have some more skin peeling going on. They’re more noticeable when I apply makeup. My skin doesn’t feel dry at all due to moiturizing, but it does feel itchy from skin flakes hanging from my face. I think this is the best my skin has been. With the dry and itchy skin, it was such as mess. I’m seeing progress!
Some skin care products I’ve introduced:
- Andalou Naturals 1000 Roses Pearl Exfoliator
- Cos De BAHA 10% Niacinamide Serum
- Cos De BAHA MA Peptide Facial Toner
I needed a gentle physical exfoliator. Andalou Naturals 1000 Roses Pearl Exfoliator felt gentle on the skin without irritating it. Works for now compared to other exfoliators that are more abrasive. I can’t use anything like that right now. It’ll just tear my skin apart. The reason why I’m using an exfoliator is because my skin gets really itchy when I leave the dead skin on my face. And not all of the dead skin comes off after a peel. Some are stuck on the face. Sounds gross but that’s what happens, haha.
I am reintroducing some previous skin care products. They are Cos De BAHA 10% Niacinamide Serum and Cos De BAHA MA Peptide Facial Toner. Let’s see how these go. From what I remember, they add moisture to the skin, which I really need right now. I’ll keep an eye out if they’ll clog my pores or not. If they do, I’ll stop using them ASAP.
Alright! Let’s move on to tomorrow! I’m feeling positive! 🙂🤗
Day 40: Skin looked reddish and flushed this morning. At the same time, my skin looked hydrated and soft. It looks smoother too. The acne on the left side of my face has diminished. My forehead and right side have cleared up. I would say that I’m about 95% clear right now. I AM SOOO HAPPY! 😊😊😊😊😊😊!!! Now I have to deal with acne marks. This morning I introduced another serum I used to use…
I hope this helps fade acne marks along with the other serums I mentioned the other day. Looking forward to results tomorrow!
Day 41: Skin looks good today. I only have about 2 active pimples. WOW. What a difference within a week of just moisturizing my skin. This is working for me!! It was much easier to apply makeup this morning too. All I use is a thin layer of bb cream…and that’s it! But, with makeup, I am still dealing with skin flakes and dry patches. I moisturize the heck out of my skin before I apply makeup too. *sigh* Looks like I need to add another moiturizer to my routine. So I got my hands on some squalane today for extra moisture. I hope it works!
Day 42: I was dealing with itchy skin last night. Not sure if the squalane is going to work or not. I don’t think it’s going to be a savior to my skin. I’m going to have to look elsewhere for a better hydrating skin care product/moisturizer. I’ll continue to use the squalane and see if it’ll help or not.
At the moment, I’m dealing mainly with dryness, itchy skin, redness, and acne marks. My skin looks pretty clear with a few unnoticeable tiny pimples here and there. I decided to add some previous serums back into my skin care routine. Let’s try them again. I hope they work out this time around. If not, out they go! I’m truly, really hoping they will work out. 🤞🏻 So I’ve been using Cos De BAHA 10% Niacinamide Serum, Cos De BAHA Arbutin Niacinamide Serum, and Cos De BAHA MA Peptide Facial Toner for a few days, and it’s been going well. They smoothed out my skin even more. They added a little bit more hydration to my skin too. Here are the serums I’m adding back…
- Cos De BAHA MA Peptide Serum – A little thicker in consistency compared to the MA Peptide Facial Toner. I tried it this morning, and it absorbs OK into the skin.
- Cos De BAHA Hyaluronic Acid Serum – I’m going to finish the rest of this and see how it goes. I remember it balling up and peeling. Perhaps, I’ll use it only at night when I don’t have to worry about SPF and makeup. I’m leaning towards not purchasing this HA Serum again. There are better HA Serums out there that don’t ball up. I hate it when skin care products end up peeling off the skin. Let’s try it out and see how it goes first.
- Cos De BAHA Galactomyces Serum – Giving this one another chance, lol.
This week, huge improvement in breakouts just by adding moisturizers in! I have a long way to go to even out my skin tone and fade acne marks! I’m crossing my fingers that all of the skin care products I introduced into my routine will not break me out!
Now let’s move on to WEEK 7!! 😎
