Clinique Acne Solutions Liquid Makeup

It’s time to do a review on Clinique Acne Solutions Liquid Makeup! So this foundation contains salicylic acid (0.5%), but it did absolutely nothing for my acne. FYI, this foundation contains denatured alcohol. I honestly think that’s where the oil control comes from. Not the salicylic acid. I have a lower strength BHA that doesn’t help with oil control either. It’s too low to do anything. The shade of this foundation was too dark on my skin. Once again, the color I have is fresh alabaster. It’s one of the fair shades. Way. Too Dark. If you have pale skin, this isn’t it. I can see a clear distinction between my face and neck. I tried this foundation with and without a base. It worked better with a base. The foundation was thin. Maybe I’m not used to traditional liquid foundations? I switched over to bb creams many moons ago. Bb creams just feel much better on my skin. It clings onto my skin better. Coverage is moderate. It’s buildable. But it starts looking cakey and unnatural when a few more layers is applied. Did it break me out? I did notice some acne using this foundation. They were those annoying closed comedones (not cystic acne). I stopped using this foundation and went back to my bb creams. So, I didn’t like Clinique Acne Solutions Liquid Makeup. I was expecting it to be better for my skin. Something that feels lightweight, with good coverage, and helps with acne (all in one). It didn’t meet my expectations. I wouldn’t recommend this foundation. I think there are better options out there.

P.S. I finished Dr Jart+ Silver Label Rejuvenating BB Cream and tossed it out. I decided not to purchase it again. I’ll do review on this bb cream plus others next time.

Clinique Acne Solutions Liquid Makeup

I have a new foundation…more about it first…

I picked up a new foundation. I haven’t used this brand in years. I needed something that didn’t break me out. Clinique foundations don’t break me out from what I remember. I hope it still doesn’t. I thought I would give it a try again. But, this time, I chose the Acne Solutions Liquid Makeup. I haven’t used this before. So this review is after two times of using this foundation…

This product is a foundation with an acne fighting ingredient in it (0.5% salicylic acid). That’s a pretty low amount of salicylic acid. I doubt it’s going to dry my skin out. I have another product that contains a low amount of BHA and AHA too. It hasn’t dried my skin out. I chose the shade fresh alabaster. From my experience with Clinique foundations, their fair shades aren’t that fair. I experienced the same with the Acne Solutions Liquid Makeup. It’s a bit darker than I expected. It looks peachy to me. But whatever, lol. I’m going to test it out anyways.

The first time I used it, I thought it was OK. The foundation was lightweight compared to my usual bb creams. It was a different experience. I haven’t used a traditional liquid foundation in so many years. The texture is smooth. It blends into the skin well. I didn’t have any issues applying this foundation. Since it contains salicylic acid, I didn’t apply it under eyes. I used a concealer instead. I followed up with a powder (from Clinique, more on that in another post). After the first day of using this foundation, I noticed that my skin became blotchy. Maybe it’s because I have oily skin. I can see the foundation caking up in patches. I didn’t experience dryness though.

Giving it another try…

On the second day, I decided to change it up a bit. I didn’t apply the foundation directly on my skin. I used a base. Guess what I used under the Acne Solutions Liquid Makeup? YUP! My Dr Jart+ Silver Label Rejuvenating BB Cream! I thought I was done with this! I guess not! But this method worked. My skin looked soft and dewy. Not too oily. I had a bit of shine to my skin but not too much! I liked it! Maybe I should keep using Dr Jart as a base only, not my main foundation. Hmmm! I’ll think about it. This worked along with a powder on top. I don’t need to use a lot of product either. 🙂

Day 2 went well. I’m still keeping an eye on my skin to see if the Acne Solutions Liquid Makeup will clog my pores or not. I’ll continue to use it in the meantime. I’ll do another update soon…
