Coppertone Defend Care Clear Zinc 50

I’ve gone through a bunch of skin care products. Let’s get started!

Eucerin Q10 Anti-Wrinkle Face Cream:

I was able to finish one jar of Eucerin Q10 Anti-Wrinkle Face Cream. I have one more and am trying to finish that one too. So my thoughts on this product are not so good. I thought it was working out for me in the beginning, but it was making my skin worse. It didn’t leave my skin feeling moisturized either. Just greasy and oily. It made me break out as well. I tried using it only as an eye/neck cream. I didn’t like it as an eye cream. As a neck cream, it works, but it’s not the best, moisturizing neck cream I have used. The ingredients in this product are nice. It contains shea butter, beta-carotene, ubiquinone, and vitamin E, to name a few. It just didn’t live up to what it claims to do. I didn’t get any results from it but clogged pores and greasy skin.

The Ordinary Argireline Solution 10%:

This serum has a watery texture that easily absorbs into the skin. It’s supposed to help with dynamic lines on the forehead and smile lines. I didn’t see any results using it. I loved how fast it absorbs and isn’t sticky on the skin, but it did nothing for me. I have one more bottle of the serum that I’m still trying to use up.

Neutrogena Sheer Zinc Face Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50:

I was so happy when I finished a bottle of this sunscreen. It’s taking me forever to finish it up for many reasons. Honestly, I really don’t like this sunscreen. It smells awful, feels greasy and heavy on the skin, leaves an obvious white cast, clogs my pores, and is difficult to spread on the skin. I love that it’s 21.6% Zinc Oxide and is SPF 50, but I stopped using it on my face for the reasons mentioned. It feels very uncomfortable on the skin. I have one more bottle of this sunscreen and won’t repurchase it when I finish it. I don’t even know how I’m going to use the last bottle. Wish me luck!

The Ordinary Amino Acids + B5:

I’m done with The Ordinary Amino Acids + B5! This is my last bottle and I’m over it! It did NOTHING for my skin. It feels like I’m applying expensive water to my face. I will not repurchase. What a waste of money!

The Ordinary Resveratrol 3% Ferulic Acid 3%:

I finished another bottle of The Ordinary Resveratrol 3% Ferulic Acid 3%. I don’t really hate this serum. It just didn’t work on my face. It’s too greasy and oily. It made me break out. I didn’t know I was breaking out from using it until I stopped using it. It was one of the many causes of my breakouts. But, I started using it on my body consistently instead. I really like it as a body serum. Not too bad. So I stopped using it on my face and kept using it on my body instead. I might keep using it for that reason. I have a few bottles left to test it out and see if I like it.

Skin79 Super+ Beblesh Balm Orange:

I’ve been using this bb cream for years and finally finished my last bottle of the product. I noticed that I stopped getting breakouts from it after I started using my acne cream. This isn’t a bad bb cream. It’s one of my favorites, but it’s not like what it used to be. I love how it controls oil on my skin. I have very oily skin and this bb cream seems to work for my skin type. But, the one I received was much different. I have a sample of this bb cream and it seems to have a different texture compared to the full-size bottle that I just finished up. Maybe I received a fake? Maybe they changed the formula? I don’t know. I think it’s time to move on to something new…

Andalou Naturals Clear Skin Kombucha Enzyme Exfoliating Mask:

I haven’t talked about this product yet. I was going to, but I got really busy. So this is an exfoliating mask. I’ve been using it to just use it up, lol. It contains argan stem cells, grapefruit kombucha, pineapple, and papaya enzymes to exfoliate and dissolve dull, dry surface cells. It’s supposed to help unclog pores and help with breakouts. I didn’t see any results from this exfoliating mask. It was fun to use, but that’s about it. I wouldn’t waste my money on it again.

CeraVe Hydrating Mineral Face Sheer Tint:

Another product that I wished I didn’t stock up on, lol. It’s the CeraVe Hydrating Face Sheer Tint. This sunscreen product is awful on my skin. I was a dedicated user. In the end, it caused me to break out without realizing that it was one of the main causes of my breakouts. I even tried it again and noticed breakouts. What is it with CeraVe that causes my skin to dislike it so much? Since it causes acne, I’ve been trying to use it up, but it’s been a pain in the butt. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone with acne-prone skin. Do a patch test first to see if you have any reactions to it. I wished I did.

Canmake Mermaid Skin Gel UV SPF 50+ PA++++:

No more leftovers of this sunscreen! I finished them all!!!! It didn’t work for me at all. It dries out my skin, leaves my skin looking like plastic, and sun protection is poor (didn’t work for me). I noticed it making my skin look very aged. It must be the dryness or something. I tried using it with a moisturizer underneath. That didn’t work either. This sunscreen product is just not for me. Very overhyped for the price. Not worth it, in my opinion.

Purito Centella Green Level Buffet Serum:

I shouldn’t have bought so many of the Purito Centella Green Level Buffet Serum. It is a calming and soothing serum, but it didn’t do much for my facial skin. I’ve been using the rest of what I have. I’ve been very generous with it too. This serum sucks. I’m over it and just in the process of finishing them up and tossing them out, haha.

The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG:

I was going to keep The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG in my routine, but I never saw any true results with this eye serum. I just wanted it to work and kept using it. It feels pretty drying too even with moisturizer. I gave up on it. Here’s to another product that I’m trying to finish up. I think I have at least 1 more bottle of this serum left…

Eucerin Advanced Hydration SPF 50 Sunscreen Spray with Hyaluronic Acid + Humectants:

I’m not big on spray sunscreens but gave this one a shot. I thought it could work on my face. The sunscreen sprayed out nicely and was very easy to use, but it felt and looked greasy on my skin. It burned my eyes. It has a strong sunscreen smell to it. This would work better as a body sunscreen than a sunscreen for the face. Since it’s alcohol-free, it feels greasy as mentioned. I was hoping that it would work on my facial skin. Oh well. Moving on…

Banana Boat Ultra Sport Sunscreen Stick Broad Spectrum SPF 50+:

I finally finished my last tube of this sunscreen stick. It’s not for me. It’s greasy and oily. It gets everywhere. It feels sticky on the skin. I just didn’t like it. I can’t imagine using this on a daily basis. Maybe if I’m at the beach but there are so many options out there that I’m not even thinking about purchasing this sunscreen again.

Up & Up Sport Sunscreen Lip: Balm Broad Spectrum SPF 50:

This is my current lip balm with SPF 50. It’s cheap. lol, that’s the reason why I use it. I would love to switch over to a mineral-based sunscreen, but I haven’t found one that works for me. It is what it is. It’s a lip balm with SPF.

Trader Joe’s Daily Facial Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40:

I ran out of Trader Joe’s Daily Facial Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40! I’m not sure if I’m going to pick up some more. My current SPF product is working for me, and I just don’t feel like going to the store to get more, haha. But, this sunscreen is pretty decent. I wish the SPF was a little higher.

Altruist Sunscreen SPF 50:

I finished my second bottle of Altruist Sunscreen SPF 50. I don’t use this sunscreen on my facial skin. I use it around my eyes. It’s greasy on my face but works on the skin around my eyes and neck, so that’s what I use it for. I’m not even sure I’m going to stick with it. I have 2 more bottles left and just using it because it’s supposed to be a high UVA sunscreen. We’ll see if it works or not!

GUERISSON 9 Complex Cream:

I’m glad to be done with this cream. It didn’t do much for my skin. It’s a pretty heavy product. I honestly don’t care much for it. I almost forgot about it and decided to slather my body with it for weeks until the jar was empty. Wouldn’t purchase it again, to be honest.

Coppertone Defend & Care Clear Zinc 50:

Another sunscreen that I finished. Coppertone Defend & Care Clear Zinc 50 smells like plastic and left a white cast on my skin. I used most of it on my body since my face hated it. It’s not a sunscreen that I would purchase again. It’s affordable, but I can’t stand using it. It wasn’t an enjoyable experience.

PanOxyl Acne Creamy Wash (4%):

I was hoping that a benzoyl peroxide-based face wash would work instead of my current face wash. It didn’t work. PanOxyl did nothing for my skin. It didn’t even clean it well. I’m better off sticking to benzoyl peroxide topical treatments to target my acne-prone skin. This face wash may work for others, but it didn’t for me.

Neutrogena Stubborn Acne AM Treatment:

Love this product. It cleared my skin after months of using it. I noticed results very early on (a few weeks). It sinks into the skin nicely and doesn’t leave residue behind. I love it. I’m currently using it in the morning to control sebum and prevent breakouts while using SPF. My sunscreens tend to be greasier and the acne treatment helps to decrease the grease on my face, haha. I finished one bottle of the acne treatment. Now I’m on to my second bottle! Wow, this stuff is amazing at fighting acne. I’m going to keep using it.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios Body & Face Mineral Sunscreen Gentle Lotion SPF 50:

I thought this would be my HG sunscreen, but I’m so over it. It’s a mineral sunscreen and I really wanted it to work. The texture of the sunscreen is very soft, smooth, and elegant. It’s easy to blend into the skin. It does leave a white cast on the skin, which I didn’t like. It’s a very noticeable white cast. I prefer a more moisturizing sunscreen that doesn’t leave my skin looking extremely white. This was just too much and noticeable. It’s quite embarrassing. I can’t go anywhere using this sunscreen. It’s hilarious, haha.

Aussie Total Miracle Conditioner with Apricot For Damage Hair:

I was able to finish the Aussie Conditioner (Apricot). Another brand that I’m over with. The conditioner didn’t do much for my hair. It feels like it’s moisturizing when I’m using it, but it left my hair looking frizzy and gross afterward. I didn’t like the results of it. I guess it’s affordable for a reason. Next…

Neutrogena Visibly Even Daily Moisturizer SPF 30

My Experience with Taz 🙂

I’m officially back to using taz!! I started off the first week using taz twice a week. The next week (which is this week), I tried using it every single day. I skipped a day. I’ve used taz for a total of 8 times already. For the first 2 days this week using taz, I noticed more breakouts popping up in my breakout-prone areas. These pimples were not tiny. They were large deep under the skin pimples that could not be popped! I couldn’t do anything about them but leave them alone until they were ready to POP! They popped on their own too. D*mn! They were painful! And they all left an acne mark behind. Ugh! After this week, I’m left with acne marks and smoother skin. Yesssss, smoother skin. My skin actually does look clearer. I’m guessing this is the purging process I’m going through. My skin does look considerably better than before. It looks less bumpy and less textured. It sucks that I’m left with acne marks, but they’ll eventually go away as the months go by. I hope. I’m going to stick it out, hold on, and hope all gets better. And, by the way, there was a slight burning sensation to my skin after 5 days of application (for this week). I’m still going to push it through because it’s not too bad. I didn’t skip a day of taz because of this. The reason why is to incorporate benzoyl peroxide into my routine (not as a spot treatment, as an all-over acne treatment). I used benzoyl peroxide last night and a lot of my pimples decreased in size. It still seems like my skin still needs benzoyl peroxide to be clear. It helps to kill the bacteria and keeps my skin from exploding with more acne. Taz is working, I guess, but I’m getting a feeling a combination of benzoyl peroxide and taz is where it’s at for my skin.

Back to Sunscreens…

As for sunscreen, I know I did an update on sunscreens last week. I mentioned using La Roche-Posay Anthelios Melt-in Milk Face & Body Sunscreen Lotion SPF 100 and Canmake Mermaid Skin Gel UV SPF 50+ PA++++. Well, one part of that changed. I’m still using La-Roche Posay SPF 100. I stopped using Canmake. My skin just didn’t like Canmake. The texture of the sunscreen is soft, smooth, and dries on the skin nicely. But, I noticed my nose clogging up, and it made my skin feel gross by the end of the day. It just didn’t work for me. As for La Roche-Posay SPF 100, this is slowly becoming my main sunscreen. It can feel greasy on the skin sometimes, but I’m not having any breakout issues with it as of late. Hmmm! This one may work out. Honestly, I’m just looking for a sunscreen that doesn’t break me out. Trader Joe’s Daily Facial Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 causes breakouts (the last time I used it). Neutrogena Visibly Even Daily Moisturizer SPF 30 is OK. I noticed some pimples from it last time, but those breakouts could be from something else. I tried it again, and it was decent. Maybe I’ll use what I have left indoors. I don’t really need SPF 100 indoors. I’m trying to use up all of the sunscreens I have too before purchasing more/new ones. La Roche-Posay Anthelios Body & Face Mineral Sunscreen Gentle Lotion SPF 50 looks awful on my skin. Yuck! It’s so thick, too much of a white cast, and dries the crap out of my skin. I can go on and on about the sunscreens I have, but those are a few thoughts that popped up in my mind, lol.

That’s it for this week! My skin care routine is minimal, which makes my life so much easier. Hopefully all goes well next week! See everyone there! 🙂

Update: The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% + HA & La Roche-Posay Anthelios Body & Face Mineral Sunscreen Gentle Lotion SPF 50

Comment
The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% + HA

The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% + HA:

I tried The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% + HA again. I thought I could add a lactic acid serum into my routine instead of a glycolic acid serum (when I want a chemical exfoliant that is more gentle on the skin). Lactic acid has always been one of favorites. It’s gentle, exfoliates, and moisturizes the skin. I have 2 bottles of this serum left that I could use. Let’s just try it out again? So I did. The serum comes in a 30 mL glass bottle with a dropper. I’m not a fan of products that come in this type of format. I try to avoid it as much as possible. I just don’t like it. Personal preference. So this serum was very easy to use. Just a few drops and that’s it. I love how the serum absorbs into the skin quickly and leaves the skin feeling like there’s nothing on it. But, unfortunately, I woke up the next morning with some hard sebum within my pores and some more closed comedones out of nowhere! Ugh! This was the only new product I used that night. I knew it was this serum causing breakouts right away. This experience was disheartening. I was hoping that it would work. It’s an affordable lactic acid product. I don’t remember it causing breakouts either. I could be wrong. I was using a ton of products at one point, haha. Once I noticed the breakouts, I stopped using the lactic acid serum and never looked back (at least not use it on my face ever again, it doesn’t work). Here are the ingredients in this product.

Aqua (Water), Lactic Acid, Glycerin, Pentylene Glycol, Propanediol, Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Tasmannia Lanceolata Fruit/Leaf Extract, Acacia Senegal Gum, Xanthan Gum, Isoceteth-20, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Ethylhexylglycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol.

An ingredient or more than one ingredient in this product caused breakouts. I wonder if it’s the isoceteth-20? I remember using a serum with this ingredient. It gave me the same reaction. I developed hard sebum within my pores and closed comedones. My skin looked bumpy.

La Roche Posay Anthelios SPF 50 Gentle Lotion Mineral Sunscreen

La Roche-Posay Anthelios Body & Face Mineral Sunscreen Gentle Lotion SPF 50:

I haven’t used La Roche-Posay Mineral Sunscreen Gentle Lotion SPF 50 consistently in a while. I’ve been using CeraVe Hydrating Mineral Face Sheer Tint as my main SPF. It’s been working for me even though it’s only SPF 30. Even though I’m using it, I do have some gripes on this (CeraVe) particular sunscreen. Since it works and doesn’t cause too many issues, I’m going to keep using it until it stops working. Whenever that is. But there are days where I reach for a higher SPF. That happens to be the La Roche-Posay Mineral Sunscreen Gentle Lotion SPF 50. This sunscreen is a lotion that feels soft and spreads ever so nicely across the skin. It blends in so well. It does leave a slight white cast on my skin, but it doesn’t bother me that much. I was able to finish at least 5 or 6 bottles of this sunscreen last year. I think I’m on my 6th or 7th bottle now. I can’t remember, but it’s around there. This mineral sunscreen is different from the ones I’ve used before. It’s moisturizing but helps to absorb excess sebum on the skin. When used on flaky, dry skin, it can accentuate the dryness. Also, that white cast that I mentioned, if you have a richer, deeper skin tone, I don’t recommend this sunscreen at all. You can give it a try if you want, but there is a noticeable white cast (considering how much sunscreen a person has to apply to get the full SPF labelled on the bottle plus reapplication). Even though the white cast didn’t bother me that much, I eventually moved on to a tinted mineral sunscreen instead. It’s less of a hassle, and I’ve had less issues with blending it into my skin when I’m in a rush in the morning.

I thought this sunscreen would become my HG sunscreen. I mean, I’ve used several bottles of it already. Sadly, lately, it hasn’t been working like it used to. The sunscreen still has all of the qualities it had before like having a nice texture and consistency that’s soft to touch, blending into the skin well, has a nice matte finish, high SPF, it’s a mineral sunscreen. But, I’ve been noticing breakouts every time I use it. Every time I use it, I have new acne. I always make sure I remove my sunscreen off thoroughly at the end of the day too. Why is it making me breakout now? Was it clogging my pores before? I wonder if it’s been clogging my pores this whole time! 🤔 It could be. I was using a bunch of products, so I couldn’t pin point what product/products were causing breakouts. This could be one of the products along with a bunch of others, lol. So after experiencing acne from this sunscreen, I immediately stopped using it on my face. I didn’t keep trying to make it work. I’m already using another sunscreen that isn’t causing acne (I hope, hahaha!). It was whatever to me at this point. I only have one bottle of the La Roche-Posay Mineral Sunscreen left, so it’s not that big of a deal. I’m already more than halfway through the bottle. I guess I’m back to searching for a higher SPF mineral sunscreen once again. It’s disappointing that this one didn’t work. I can’t believe it took me this long to figure it out! I thought it worked so well!! Ahh! Who knew! ha!

I have a new sunscreen! La Roche-Posay Anthelios Body & Face Mineral Sunscreen Gentle Lotion SPF 50! Does it work?

Comment
La Roche Posay Anthelios SPF 50 Gentle Lotion Mineral Sunscreen

I finally bit the bullet and picked up a La Roche-Posay sunscreen. 🙂 This brand has been floating in my head for quite some time. I’ve heard so many good things about it. But I was pretty much committed to my other sunscreens and didn’t want to venture out just yet. My skin is very picky, and I have trouble finding a good sunscreen for my skin type. There’s only been a lucky few that landed on my favorites 💞 list. But I needed a new sunscreen that is mineral-based (what my skin AND eyes prefer, my eyes have issues with chemical sunscreens, they burn!!), comes in a larger bottle, fragrance-free, and is water-resistant. That’s when I stumbled upon La Roche-Posay Anthelios Body & Face Mineral Sunscreen Gentle Lotion SPF 50. This sunscreen seems to hit all of those points. I just went for it! Here’s more information on this sunscreen:

The ingredients…

Active Ingredients:

Titanium Dioxide 5% Zinc Oxide 15%

Inactive Ingredients:

Water, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Isohexadecane, Isononyl Isononanoate, Dicaprylyl Ether, PEG-30, Dipolyhydroxystearate, Polyglyceryl-4 Isostearate, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Ethylene/Acrylic Acid, Copolymer, Triethylhexanoin, Silica, Poly C10-30, Alkyl Acrylate, Citric Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Chloride, Caprylyl Glycol, Diethylhexyl, Syringylidenemalonate, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Aluminum Hydroxide, Stearic Acid, Aluminum Stearate, Chlorphenesin, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Alumina, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Tocopherol, P-Anisic Acid, Capryloyl Salicylic Acid, Xanthan Gum, Disodium EDTA, Propylene Carbonate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cassia Alata Leaf Extract, Maltodextrin.

I just hope this sunscreen doesn’t break me out. It says that it’s non-comedogenic but who knows what may happen. I’m just crossing my fingers and hope all goes well!

The product is sealed at the cap. Kind of hard to see in the photo but it is sealed.

La Roche Posay Anthelios SPF 50 Gentle Lotion Mineral Sunscreen

My Experience

So I’ve only used this sunscreen for 5 days. Here are my thoughts on it so far.

The sunscreen lotion feels very soft and smooth. It’s fragrance-free. I was very impressed with the texture of the sunscreen, especially when compared to other mineral sunscreens I’ve used. This one wasn’t too thick like the Cetaphil mineral sunscreens I used. It’s thick in texture and consistency compared to the liquid mineral sunscreens, but I didn’t feel like it was a blob of mess on my face. It was pretty easy to apply to the skin. It did take more time to apply compared to a chemical sunscreen, but it is a mineral sunscreen after all. Mineral sunscreens tend to give off a white cast. This sunscreen, yes, there is a slight white cast. Fortunately for me, it wasn’t that big of a deal. I was able to blend the sunscreen into the skin. The white cast definitely blends into the skin much better compared to other mineral sunscreens I’ve tried.

This sunscreen also works very well under makeup. On days when I apply makeup, the white cast doesn’t even matter. It’s covered by my foundation. The sunscreen doesn’t ball up either. This sunscreen left my skin feeling very moisturized, which I really loved! It didn’t burn my eyes or irritate my skin. But it did accentuate peeling skin or flaky skin. So if your skin is peeling or have dry patches, be aware that this sunscreen will make dry skin more obvious. During this short experience, the only negatives so far would be the white cast (it has one even if it’s subtle), how it settles into dry patches/flaky skin, and the sunscreen takes some time to set on the skin. Otherwise, I really like it. I saw an improvement in my skin after using it for nearly a week now (almost a week!). Not just in sun protection but also the moisture in my skin. My skin feels and looks so much healthier. Lastly, I didn’t notice any breakouts or clogged pores from this sunscreen. I hope it stays this way. 🤞🏻

What the sunscreen looks like. 🙂

La Roche Posay Anthelios SPF 50 Gentle Lotion Mineral Sunscreen

I’m really happy that my experience was overall positive. Now I’m kicking myself for not picking it up in the first place! I still like my current sunscreen, but this one is moving up there real quick! Now let’s see what happens when I finish the whole bottle! I picked up the 3 fl. oz. bottle by the way! This brand had other lightweight options for oily skin, but they were out of my budget (price vs size). Knowing how much sunscreen I use per day, I didn’t think it was worth it. I’m better off with a bigger bottle for sure! This was it. I’m really happy that I went for this one. It wasn’t too bad after all! Stay tuned for another update soon! I hope all works out! I hope this review was helpful! Have a nice day! 🙂
