Exploring Hawaii

What is North Shore?

You’ve already been introduced to parts of the North Shore in Hawaii — Waimea Bay and Laniakea Beach. But what is the North Shore exactly? The North Shore is a laid-back beach town at the northernmost point of Oahu (see map below). Think gorgeous beautiful beaches, gigantic untamed waves, and professional surfing!

Location:

North Shore. Oahu. Hawaii. Hale’iwa is the most popular North Shore town.

There’s lots of food trucks and shaved ice here, so off we went to find Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck! Not for me, of course. 😋

Where is Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck located?

Here’s a map. Get it? Got it? Good. Let’s go find that Shrimp Truck!

I’m feeling that laid-back beach, surfer atmosphere. It’s a whole different environment compared to the touristy Waikiki. I enjoyed my time here. Let’s come back when the sun is out. I want to feel the sunshine on my face on the North Shore. 🌞

Duluth, Minnesota: The Drive & Two Harbors

Lake Superior in Duluth, Minnesota

Lake Superior in Duluth, Minnesota

DESTINATION: DULUTH, MINNESOTA

I’ve lived in Minnesota for such a long time. Even though I wasn’t born in Minnesota. I’m originally from California. In particular, Northern California. My Minnesotan friends tell me I’m so Californian, while Californians think I’m so Minnesotan. I can’t win. I’m a mesh of both . 🙂 Living in Minnesota for ages, you know, I’ve never gone “Up North” as Minnesotans call it. So, one day, I decided to go on a grand adventure up north with to see what the fuss is about. Everyone has told me it’s such a beautiful place.

Where is Duluth, Minnesota? What is Up North?

Duluth is located on the North Shore at the western point of Lake Superior. Duluth is located up north of Minneapolis (where I grew up). It is about 3 hours away from Minneapolis. Here’s a quick snapshot of the drive.

What is Duluth known for? What to do there?

Duluth is known for the Great Lakes Aquarium, Enger Park and Tower, Aerial Lift Bridge, Duluth Lakewalk, and Canal Park to name a few. There’s lots to do. Minnesotans usually head up north to visit family, fish, hunt. It’s much like a getaway from the cities (Minneapolis area).

What I packed.

I packed a ton of healthy snacks to bring with me. I always make sure I eat healthy on the road. Here are some delicious snacks I brought with!! 🙂

This vitamin organizer definitely came in handy. I didn’t need that many vitamins. But, it’s nice to not carry vitamin bottles around everywhere. It gets really bulky and annoying.

Two Harbors

I stopped by a city named “Two Harbors.” It is located about 27-ish miles northeast of Duluth! The city is located along Lake Superior. The city is named Two Harbors due to the fact that it contributes to two natural harbors — Burlington Bay and Agate Bay.

Here is the Two Harbors Lighthouse, which is located on 3rd street. We weren’t able to visit the larger lighthouse due to it being closed at that time. 🙁
