I talked about supplements yesterday. What about protein supplements? Am I taking protein supplements???

Well…

I have two tubs of protein powder sitting around. The thing is, I haven’t touched them since. I try to. I don’t know. I prefer to eat actual food over taking protein supplements. I do like protein snacks, such as cookies and especially bars. Those fit in my meal plans quite nicely. But, protein powders are last on my list. I used to love them, by the way. 😋 Even though I haven’t been using protein powders for months. I’m very happy that none of my protein powders have expired yet. 👍

As you can see from the photo, I have Trader Joe’s Organic Pea Protein Powder (Vanilla) and Orgain Organic Protein Powder (Creamy Chocolate Fudge). With Trader Joe’s Organic Pea Protein Powder, the reason why I haven’t been using it is because it tastes quite awful. It just doesn’t taste good to me at all. It doesn’t matter what I put in my protein shake. I don’t like the taste of it. What I like about it is the amino acid profile. On the other hand, Orgain isn’t too bad, which I’m leaning towards to using more often.

I’m trying to get back in shape again, so I think it’s about time to utilize these protein powders. I’m not lacking protein or anything like that as a vegetarian. I get enough protein in a day. But, protein does seem to keep me fuller much longer throughout the day. I have these protein powders. Why not use them instead of wasting them??!! So let’s begin this transformation! Here’s my review on Orgain Organic Plant-Based Protein Bars. You know, I’m glad I gave these protein bars a second chance. This time, I really liked them. I was eating Clif Bars before this. I love Clif Bars, but it contains a lot of sugar. They’re awesome as a pre or post-workout snack though. I’ve read many reviews saying that Orgain Organic Plant-Based Protein Bars are very sweet. They’re actually not compared to Clif Bars. I noticed a decrease in sweetness when I switched over. Orgain Organic Plant-Based Protein Bars are a little bit more grainy. It’s something I’ve gotten used to by now. At first, it was weird, lol. They’re not that bad at all. Taste-wise, my ranking of the flavors (ones that I purchased) are…

  1. Cookie Dough
  2. Peanut Butter
  3. S’mores

S’mores was the sweetest out of the bunch, which is funny because it has 1 more gram of sugar compared to Cookie Dough (not a significant amount anyways, just mentioning it). Overall, I like these protein bars. 140 calories per bar with 10 grams of protein. It’s easier to portion control with them. I felt more satisfied and full when I eat these. With the Clif Bars, meh. It felt more like a candy bar with protein due to the high sugar. I would buy Orgain Organic Plant-Based Protein Bars again. I’m really happy with them this time around. I wish they would produce more flavors. It gets really boring when I only have four flavors to choose from.
