Waimea Bay North Shore Hawaii
Aug. 21, 2018
Leave a commentAloha Waimea Bay! Waimea Bay is a beautiful beach on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii. A famous surfing beach due to the large shore breaks during the winter season. In the summertime, the waters are more calm. A perfect time for swimming and snorkeling. Waimea Bay is also well-known for the gigantic rock (pictured above with me) called Jump Rock. It is approximately 25 ft high. You can climb up to the top of the rock and jump off if you choose to do so. If you’ve been here, have you jumped off the rock? Share your experience with me. 🙂
Location:
North Shore, Oahu
Parking:
Free parking lot. Just watch out for chickens and roosters running around freely. They are so cute!
E komo mai! Welcome to Waimea Bay!
Some fun facts about Waimea Bay:

Jump Rock!

Warning: Jumping/Diving can cause serious bodily injury or death. For your safety, please stay off rock.
Yes, that’s what the warning sign says. If you simply look at the rock, it looks easy. If you’re there in person, it looks bigger and more dangerous. The waves were pretty strong when I was at Waimea Bay. I was almost pulled into the ocean just by dipping my feet into the ocean water! Luckily, nothing bad happened. I would only recommend experienced divers and good swimmers to participate in this activity.

Hiking Day at Manoa Falls in Hawaii
Aug. 8, 2018
Leave a commentHello! Welcome to my hiking adventure at Manoa Falls in Honolulu, Hawaii! Manoa Falls is one of the most popular hikes in the Honolulu area. It takes about 1 to 2 hours to get to the falls and back. This solely depends on you — how fit you are, fast, and what you plan to do in the area. There tends to be a crowd of people at the falls, so take that into consideration as well. The distance to get to the falls and back is around 1.5 miles. It didn’t take me that long to finish the trail. I consider myself pretty fit and hike all the time!
What is Manoa Falls?
Manoa Falls is a 150 foot waterfall. See above, I’m right next to it! It looks gorgeous! 🙂
Location:
It is located in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Parking:
Parking is available. It is $5. You can park on residential streets too and walk to the falls (if spots are open).
You’ll receive a ticket like this after paying for the parking fee. It says to park & lock your car. Place validated ticket with date stamp clearly visible on dashboard, so don’t just stash it in your bag or toss it out, lol.
Let’s begin the hike!!
Watch your step and let’s go!
Manoa Falls is called a rainforest for a good reason (see pictures below). When I was there, the path was wet and muddy. It felt like I just walked into the jungle, haha! It rained the whole time…

More signs to keep people safe. Please follow the signs and rules. Don’t get hurt!
I have reached the falls at Manoa Falls!
150 foot of water flushing down against rocks! Stunning!
Thinking about swimming at Manoa Falls? Don’t. It’s advised not to swim in the water due to catching Leptospirosis, which is a bacteria in the water that can make you sick! Caution: Rocks can fall and slide around this area too. Stay safe and be aware of your surroundings.
Did you know?
Some scenes from 1993’s Jurassic Park was filmed at this location due to the jungle scenery. Also, the show Lost.
Another accomplishment achieved in this lifetime. Hiking and reaching Manoa Falls is off of my bucketlist! This was a wonderful experience. I might even do it again next time when I’m in the area. Beautiful. A breath of fresh air from my typical, standard hikes I’ve done. This one is very special. I will remember it forever! I highly recommend doing this hike if you’re in Honolulu, Hawaii! Awesome, awesome!
Have you been to Manoa Falls? How was it? Share your experience with me!!
Travel Tips:
- Wear appropriate attire. Don’t wear good-looking shoes like me, haha! I didn’t know any better. That was all I had anyways. 🙁
- Wear mosquito repellent.
- Bring extra water, towels, clothes, shoes in your car. It gets wet, muddy, and dirty.
- Weather can be rainy and drizzly. If so, expect to get soaked and wet.
- Be careful hiking the rocks and steps. It gets slippery when wet.
- Swimming in the falls is highly not recommended due to bacteria Leptospirosis. You don’t want to catch the flu!
- 1993’s Jurassic Park and Lost was filmed here. Hello Jungle!
