The Ordinary Resveratrol 3% Ferulic Acid 3%

I’ve been meaning to get to another The Ordinary skin care product. I’ve tried almost all of them. Well, many of the popular ones. This time, I’m here to talk about The Ordinary Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3%! I’ve gone through a couple of bottles in the past years. Yes, years, lol. It’s been that long, haha. They seem to last forever too. So this serum is a powerhouse of two antioxidants, Resveratrol (3%) and Ferulic Acid (3%). Resveratrol and ferulic acid helps to improve dark spots, skin elasticity, and diminishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I was really interested in this product just because of these two particular ingredients, the benefits, and the price point of the product. Just like all of the other The Ordinary skin care products, it was super cheap. From what I remember, less than 10 bucks for a bottle. I really wanted to add some antioxidants that are truly effective into my skin care routine that wasn’t vitamin c. This seems to be it. It looks like it could work. Also, this was one of the many The Ordinary products that I was very excited for! Well, after knocking out a couple of bottles of The Ordinary Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3%, here are my thoughts on this product!

I used this serum in combination with The Ordinary Ascorbic Acid 8% Alpha Arbutin 2%. Ferulic acid helps to boost the effects of other antioxidants. In this case, ascorbic acid (vitamin c). I used it in the morning and at night. So this serum is a light golden color. It feels oily on the skin (uh oh) like all of the other The Ordinary skin care products I’ve tried. It doesn’t absorb into the skin well. It leaves an oily film, residue on the skin after application. Feels like there’s a thin layer of product sitting on my skin. I didn’t like that at all. Even though I loved the active ingredients in this product, the overall formulation of the product wasn’t up to par to my liking or my skin type. It feels like it just sits on top of the skin. Leaving my skin feeling oily but drying my skin out over time. Also, after years of using this serum, I couldn’t tell if it was doing anything for my skin. I didn’t see improvements in the condition of my skin. It didn’t help with dark spots, skin elasticity, or fine lines and wrinkles. Nothing at all. Maybe the formula isn’t for me? It contains propanediol (just like the other The Ordinary skin care products I’ve used). Unfortunately, with this serum, I broke out in blackheads and closed comedones as well. Sadly, when I was using this serum, I didn’t think it was the serum causing the breakouts. I was too caught up in the ingredients that I overlooked what it was truly doing to my skin. And that is, clogging my pores and drying it out. Once I removed the serum, my skin slowly cleared up. So, it looks like The Ordinary Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% isn’t suitable for my skin type. Looking at the ingredients, it contains only 3 ingredients. They are propanediol, resveratrol, and ferulic acid. Seems harmless but the propanediol really messed everything up. This product isn’t for me along with the other The Ordinary skin care products that have this specific ingredient.

✅ Pros

❌ Cons

Here goes another The Ordinary skin care product that didn’t work on my face. There’s been so many of them that ruined my skin. This one goes on the list. The Ordinary Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% made my skin break out in blackheads and closed comedones. Made my skin feel and look oily. It eventually dried my skin out in the end. No wonder why my under eyes looked so dried and wrinkled when I was using it. Looking back, I can’t believe I continued to use it and kept it in my skin care routine. Such regrets. It was one of the last The Ordinary skin care products I removed and noticed a huge improvement in my acne right away. I love the ingredients in this product (resveratrol and ferulic acid) besides propanediol, lol. That ingredient is the devil to my skin. It’s everywhere in The Ordinary products, and it causes havoc in my skin! I hope they would use something else because it’s not working for me. Even though this serum didn’t work on my face, I still like using it on my body. I would only purchase it again to use on my body but not my face. It works for that purpose. So it looks like I’ll have to find another product that contains resveratrol and ferulic acid. This one was just terrible.
