Review: elf Acne Fighting Foundation

Here’s my review after 1 week of using elf Acne Fighting Foundation. 🙂

I’ve always wanted to try this foundation made for acne after loving the elf Flawless Finish Foundation. As someone with acne-prone skin, I thought it would be more suitable for my skin type. I’m battling oily skin every day. The ingredients in it could help cut down the oil a tad bit. This foundation is infused with salicylic acid, witch hazel, camphor, tea tree, and aloe to help fight blemishes. That sounds good! Compared to the elf Flawless Finish Foundation, the shade options were limited. They only give you 5 shades to choose from. I chose Porcelain. It’s the lightest shade out of the bunch.

This is my first impression of it.

PROS:

• I loved the texture of this foundation. It was inbetween a liquid foundation and a thick BB Cream. It was perfect. Not too thin, not too thick in consistency. Absolutely perfect.

• It didn’t look cakey on my skin. Feels more skin-like compared to the BB Creams I’ve used.

• Easy to blend into the skin. Goes on smoothly. There’s no need for a makeup primer when using this foundation. I tried it with and without a makeup primer. Both works. I prefer not to use a makeup primer.

• Coverage is pretty good. I was expecting it to be similar to the elf Flawless Finish Foundation, but it’s not. It’s much better. You can go full coverage with this foundation if you wanted to. It covers acne scars pretty well.

• My skin looks less oily, since it contains ingredients to help treat acne. With that in mind, I have noticed clogged pores hardening up on my face.

• No new breakouts out of the blue. Thank goodness. But, I’m not going to bet on it yet. I have to use the foundation much longer.

CONS:

• No SPF. 🙁 I wear SPF underneath my makeup, but it would be cool if it had SPF in it too.

• Can be drying. I used it for a week straight to test it out. I’ve noticed a decrease in oil in my skin and that left my skin feeling just a little bit dry.

• The shade Porcelain is not a true Porcelain color. It’s much darker. elf needs to add some new shades in. *wishing*

Overall, I really like the elf Acne Fighting Foundation. The only issue I have with this foundation is the color. I’ll continue to use the rest, but I’m not sure if I’ll repurchase because of that. I’ve been mixing my elf Flawless Finish Foundation + this foundation together to create a matching shade. It would be nice to find a foundation that has it all. 😛

September 18, 2019 UPDATE: I haven’t used elf Acne Fighting Foundation after getting my hands on Skin79 Super+ Beblesh Balm Green. Check out my review on Skin79 Green here. elf Acne Fighting Foundation in Porcelain isn’t a true Porcelain color. I mentioned this in my review. It looks like I have a mask on when I use this foundation. It hasn’t caused my skin any issues. It’s just that the shade is terrible. I won’t repurchase it for that reason.
