Update: Sephora Matte Perfection Foundation

Here’s my update on Sephora Matte Perfection Foundation.

What I love about this foundation is the shade. It works for me. I also like the coverage. It covers almost everything. Those acne scars are annoying! Sephora Matte Perfection Foundation does a great job at covering up post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. But there is something that is bothering me about this foundation. It is very drying. This is coming from someone that has oily skin. I know the finish is matte, but I didn’t expect it to dry out my skin. I was hoping for it to keep my oily skin at bay. It didn’t. Not only did it dry my skin out, it settled into fine lines and wrinkles. I stopped using it on the skin around my eye area for that reason. I did like this foundation at first because it didn’t dry out my skin yet. The more I use it, my skin increased in dryness. Perhaps this foundation works better during the summer months instead. I’m very wary about using it right now because it doesn’t make my skin look smooth and soft. As for breakouts, I’m not sure if it causes acne or not, but I did notice 1-2 whiteheads out of nowhere. I don’t want to say that it’s this foundation yet, but I want to report what I have experienced. As of now, I went back to using Dr Jart+ Silver Label Rejuvenating BB Cream. I’ll try Sephora Matte Perfection Foundation again when my skin is ready. I’m not feeling it right now. The dryness is just too much for my skin. Dang it, I really wanted it to work.

Here’s my first impression of Sephora Matte Perfection Foundation. I’ve used it twice already. But first, let’s get to know more about this foundation. 🙂

The first time I used Sephora Matte Perfection Foundation, I was very impressed. It felt soft and smooth on my skin. The coloring of the foundation worked for me. It blends into my skin very well. I liked it. This is what it looks like.

Here, I dispensed too much foundation out of the tube for one application. This foundation is very concentrated. It comes in a 1.01 fl oz tube, but you don’t need a lot for a full face coverage. It acts as a foundation and a concealer in one. It does cover blemishes, acne scars, and other imperfections. I didn’t have to use too much concealer for my dark under eye circles or blemishes. It’s that awesome.

When I used it the second time (today), I felt the same way about this foundation. It works for me, and I really like it. I like it a lot more than my other foundations — Dr Jart+ Silver Label Rejuvenating BB Cream, Milani Conceal + Perfect Foundation, and elf Flawless Finish Foundation. After trying Sephora Matte Perfection Foundation, I won’t repurchase Milani Conceal + Perfect Foundation and elf Flawless Finish Foundation again. I found something better, and this is it! I will always like Dr Jart+ Silver Label Rejuvenating BB Cream. I use it as a base before I apply my foundation, since I can’t find a SPF that works for my skin. I have Neutrogena Visibly Even Daily Moisturizer SPF 30, but it’s not working for me. It dries my skin out. I need some form of SPF in my morning routine. Dr Jart+ Silver Label does it for the time being. It’s better than using nothing.

My Thoughts:

Clinique Superpowder Double Face Makeup:

I haven’t been using a powder foundation lately after finishing my MAC Pro Longwear Pressed Powder. I didn’t think I needed one anymore in my makeup routine. I’ve been using my favorite BB Cream only, which is Skin 79 Triple Functions Orange BB Cream whenever I wore face makeup (no powder on top). I love this BB Cream so much! It’s my all-time favorite since forever! But, I realized that I needed a powder foundation to complete the look by providing more coverage, enhancing my complexion, and help keep my oily skin at bay. I purchased Clinique Superpowder Double Face Makeup on a whim! It was between the Superpowder Double Face Makeup, or the Almost Powder Face Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15. Seems like the latter would’ve been a much better choice for my skin type (combination to very oily skin), but the former intrigued me more when I was shopping at Sephora.

Sephora Collection Blush:

I’ve finally hit the pan with my NARS Blush in Orgasm! My relationship with NARS Blush in Orgasm is officially over. I’m happy we have parted ways. I wasn’t impressed with the NARS Blush in Orgasm whatsoever. It’s overrated. The color is meh. There are better blushes out there. So I picked up the Sephora Collection Blush to try out. The Sephora Collection indeed has lots of colors to choose from! I was very overwhelmed by the choices while I was shopping. I ended up choosing the color I’m Shocked. I love bright, hot pink blush colors!

Sephora Collection Long Lasting High Precision Brush:

I became really dissatisfied with my current eyeliner. I wanted an eyeliner that was more intense, rich, bold, and vibrant. Also, an eyeliner that would stay on my eyelids. It was time for me to try a new liquid eyeliner. I chose Sephora Collection Long Lasting High Precision Brush, since I was purchasing other makeup products at Sephora anyways.
