Peripera Ink Airy Velvet Stick

Here’s a review on Peripera Ink Airy Velvet Sticks! I’ve been meaning to get to this review, but I haven’t had the time to. It’s finally here! These lipsticks (or sticks) are k-beauty makeup products. The brand is Peripera. I haven’t used this brand before, but the shades of the lipsticks are very pretty. They offer a variety of shades in pinks, corals, and reds. I really didn’t know which one to choose. They were all beautiful and enticing. Amazingly, they’re also matte! That’s right up my alley! I prefer matte lipsticks over the ones that are shimmery, glittery or has a sheen to it. I was drawn into these lipsticks in an instant. I had to try them out! I’m not big on lipsticks, so this was a rare purchase. I can’t remember the last time I purchased a lipstick. Maybe 5 years ago? lol. It’s been years. I usually stick to a few shades and that’s more than enough. Lipsticks tend to last forever too (for me, at least).

So after contemplating which ones I wanted to try out, I chose Bestie Pink (04) and Daily Rose (06). Bestie Pink is a soft, light pink with hints of orange and brown. It has warm undertones. Daily Rose, on the other hand, is a red with warm undertones. In terms of color, I prefer Bestie Pink over Daily Rose. I’m pretty picky with my reds. It has to be the right shade of red for me to wear it. For everyday wear, I like pinks. They look more natural (except for the super bright pinks) and matches every attire. Here are swatches of Bestie Pink and Daily Rose. This photo was taken under natural light. Take note that I do feel Bestie Pink has a tad more orange and brown tints to it under certain lightings. See how pretty they are? I’m intrigued! Now let’s get into the actual review. 🙂

Peripera Ink Airy Velvet Stick

Just from looking over that small snippet of product claims, this sounds like a pretty awesome lipstick! Soft, non-drying, matte finish, diminishes wrinkles, smooths out the lips, and just making the lips look gorgeous and beautiful! And they have so many shades to choose from! But let’s get back down to earth. We don’t want to get too overly excited.

âś… It’s soft. It goes on the lips very easily and smoothly. It has a soft, light texture when applied to the lips. I wouldn’t say it’s buttery, but it glides over the lips effortlessly.

❌ It’s very drying on the lips. I can feel the dryness when I’m putting on the lipstick and after application. It settles into every fine line and accentuates lip lines. It made my lips look so crusty. Clung to every dry, dead skin. I tried using the lipstick with a lip balm, but my lips eventually dried out. I tried exfoliating my lips before applying the lipstick. Yep, lips looked really dry. So awful. This lipstick made my lips appear extra dehydrated when they are not. I use a lip mask every night and apply a moisturizing lip balm every morning and at night to keep my lips soft and supple for the following day. Once I apply this lipstick to my lips, it sucks the life out of it very quick. So freaking dry.

❌ Vivid matte finish? The color looks vivid when it’s first applied to the lips, but it fades quickly. I lost count how many times I had to reapply this lipstick in a day. It just comes off so easily. It’s not long lasting. Trust me, I even tried it with a lip primer. This lipstick doesn’t stick. At times, it would bleed. Not a good look! Yes, this lipstick is truly matte, but it dries out the lips horrendously. What’s the point when it makes the lips look aged. There are plenty of matte lipsticks out there that don’t leave the lips feeling and looking extremely dry.

❌ Wrinkles galore! This lipstick accentuates every possible negative thing on the lips. Every fine line, every crust, every imperfection you can imagine. So no, it doesn’t help with wrinkles or smooth out the lips.

âś… A blur effect can be created with this lipstick, since the texture of the lipstick feels velvety and smooth. It has a lightweight, soft touch to it. But the effect doesn’t last too long, since the lipstick isn’t long lasting.

Peripera Ink Airy Velvet Stick

My overall experience with Peripera Ink Airy Velvet Sticks hasn’t been good. I rarely touch these lipsticks due to it not living up to my expectations (and the claims). They’re just sitting in my bathroom cabinet untouched 99.99% of the time. Once in a while I’ll find my way to them and use them again but no good comes out of it due to my experience with them. The only reason why I use them even though I don’t like them is because I don’t want them to go to waste. I don’t want to toss them out either. To me, the only attractive thing about these lipsticks are the colors. I find them appealing, and the shades are wearable for everyday. I really wished that they worked as described. Well, that’s just too bad, the quality and performance of these lipsticks are very poor, so I’m not going to purchase them again. Would I recommend? Not at all. I’d stay away from these.

MAC Lipsticks in Russian Red & Ruby Woo

Comment

I’ve always wanted a few red lipsticks for special occasions. But, finding a good red lipstick has always been very difficult. The formula needs to be better than average. I say better than average because I put lipsticks in their very own special category. Eyeliners, mascaras, foundations, eyeshadows, and blushes are much easier to find. I can easily adapt to them if they are decent. Lipsticks, on the other hand, I cannot. It’s either I can use them, or I cannot. I need a lipstick that’s rich in color, doesn’t crease, stays put, fragrance-free, and doesn’t taste weird. It’s not like I eat my lipsticks. They’re on my lips, so they slip in. ? Also, fragrance-free, because I develop headaches from lipsticks if they are highly perfumed.

Since I’ve had much success with MAC Cosmetics before in another shade — Honey Love, I chose this brand again. The formula worked for me. I loved it. For the price and quality, it’s quite amazing! So, I purchased two red lipsticks from MAC Cosmetics. They are Ruby Woo and Russian Red. Before I go into further detail, here are photos of my MAC Cosmetics red lipsticks in Ruby Woo and Russian Red. Swatches and all. Enjoy. ?

Ruby Woo Retro Matte Lipstick:

Russian Red Matte Lipstick:

They are two different shades of red. Ruby Woo is a tad brighter, while Russian Red is deeper in color. I’ve only used Russian Red. Here’s a picture of me wearing Russian Red (the above photo too, both are Russian Red).

In conclusion, I really like Russian Red! ? With Russian Red, the lipstick lasted the whole night! Not even a single budge or smudge after dinner and sipping on a glass of water! I didn’t have to retouch at all! LOOOOOOVEEE! Now,I’m excited to use Ruby Woo, which was out of stock for a while, so I didn’t receive it until a few weeks later. They are both popular reds! From this experience, I would say that MAC Cosmetics red lipsticks are top quality! They hit all the points I want in a lipstick. No creasing, stays put, intense in color, doesn’t taste funny. Most of all, no bad headaches from it, since it’s fragrance-free. They work for me! Even though I’m not a big fan of other MAC Cosmetics makeup products, they win me over with their lipsticks!

Have you tried any MAC lipsticks? Ruby Woo or Russian Red? Any favorites? Share your thoughts and experience by leaving a comment!
