Wet n Wild Photo Focus Loose Setting Powder

It’s time for a makeup review. 😊 I’ve had Wet n Wild Photo Focus Loose Setting Powder for some time. I’ve used it on and off. I recently just started using it again because I wanted something that looks more natural but also helps with oil control. This seems to be the best bet when looking at the ingredients. It’s short and simple. Also, from the times that I did use it, it didn’t irritate my skin or clog my pores. We’ll see if it’s still the same as before. Here are my thoughts on this setting powder this time around…

This is a soft, silky powder that feels very lightweight on the skin. The shade I have is Translucent. It’s a light beige color, but it vanishes into the skin when blended properly. This powder is truly translucent. It doesn’t provide any coverage or even out the skin tone. I use this powder after I apply my foundation, and it makes my skin look less oily. It’s very good at absorbing oil on the skin and leaves the skin matte. I don’t need to use a lot of product either. Just a little bit and I’m all set. If you have dry skin or dry patches, using this powder is not a good idea. It accentuates dry skin and dry patches of skin. I skip it on my dry skin days, since powder makeup usually make dry skin look worse. It is an absorbent product. It’ll just put more emphasis on those flaky areas.

So this powder does leave the skin looking softer, but I haven’t noticed a blur effect on fine lines or imperfections. I don’t see it after using it so many times. On my skin, anyways. To me, it’s just a lightweight powder that helps to control oil on the skin. And that’s all I really use it for. It’s a really good product for that purpose. This powder does not leave the skin looking cakey at all. I can apply layers of this product, and my skin doesn’t look caked, heavy, or made up. I tried baking with this powder, since the product claims it can be used to bake. That was a mistake but at least I tried. I honestly didn’t like it. It was too drying on my skin and accentuated fine lines and wrinkles. Made my skin look dry and chalky. Uh…no. lol. It didn’t work for me for that purpose. It’s better at controlling the oilies. That’s what I’m going to use it for.

This setting powder comes in a decent size jar (0.70 oz. / 20 g) for only $5.99. It’s very affordable. 😁

Here’s the setting powder on my makeup brush. This powder is pretty dense. I think I went overboard though. Oops. ðŸĪŠ

Here’s a swatch of the powder. It’s a light beige color. But don’t worry, it vanishes into the skin. All you need to do is blend, blend, and blend some more. This powder lives up to its name. You can apply as much powder as you want, and it’ll still be translucent. It’s also non-cakey. I tried applying the product on with many layers, and it still didn’t make my skin look blotchy and heavy. My skin still looked natural and makeup-less. YES! It looks like I’m not wearing any makeup!

✅ Pros

❌ Cons

This is a really good, inexpensive powder that works to control oil on the skin and leaves the skin looking matte. It leaves my skin looking softer and less oily. It doesn’t look cakey. Looks natural on the skin. It also didn’t break me out either. I didn’t notice new breakouts while wearing it. Overall, I didn’t have any issues with this powder. It would be nice if it blurred fine lines and imperfections, since that’s what it says it would do. lol. If you’re looking for a powder that gives that effect, this is not for you. I’m just a tad disappointed in that. Just a little, ha. But the oil control is something I really like about this powder. It really does tame the oil in my skin. My skin is matte throughout the day, and it doesn’t take a lot of product to achieve that. Other than that, it’s a good product for the price. It’s only $5.99. It’s worth to give it a try if you’re looking for an affordable setting powder. As for me, it’s good but not great or amazing. I most likely won’t purchase it again after I finish what I have.
