New Skin Care for Dry, Sensitive Skin :)

Olay Vanicream Haul

Hello everyone! I picked up some skin care products over the weekend. My skin is feeling extremely dry and sensitive to touch. Sometimes it would burn too. So I’ve been thinking about adding a new moisturizer to my skin care routine. I thought about it and I thought about it. I kept on thinking about it until I finally pulled the plug. My skin couldn’t take it anymore. It’s dry, red, and itchy. What to do?? I picked up a new moisturizer. Before I talk about my new moisturizer, the reason why I went out and bought a new moisturizer is because the moisturizers that I have weren’t doing much for my skin. It feels like they only moisturize my skin when they’re applied to my skin. The moisture doesn’t last long. Just for the moment and a couple hours after application. After that, my skin is back to being dry and itchy. Also, my skin still feels dry (even drier) and uncomfortable the following morning using these moisturizers. I needed a moisturizer that actually, truly moisturizes the skin but also repairs and heals the skin too. A moisturizer that keeps my skin moisturized throughout the day. I’ve been having issues with dryness and skin irritation and nothing has worked to prevent skin dryness and irritation. It feels like I’m wasting my time and money on products that just don’t work, but I continue to use them because I can’t find anything better that works.

The moisturizers I’m using are…

Cosrx Oil-Free Ultra-Moisturizing Lotion (with Birch Sap)

Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence

Eucerin Q10 Anti-Wrinkle Face Cream

GUERISSON 9 Complex Cream

Purito Centella Green Level Buffet Serum

Benton Fermentation Essence

Some of these products are a staple in my routine like the Purito Centella Green Level Buffet Serum, Benton Fermentation Essence, and Eucerin Q10 Anti-Wrinkle Face Cream. I like them, but they’re not as moisturizing as I want them to be or as they should be. They each have their own individual purpose in my routine. I like them for different reasons. For example, the Purito serum helps to calm redness and soothes the skin. This is the first serum I use on my face after it’s been cleaned and washed. It feels very soothing and nice on the skin. Benton is a more watery essence. It has this ultra silky texture to it that I adore so much. It contains ceramide np and ferment ingredients. Absolutely love!! Lastly, Eucerin is a heavier, richer cream that semi-moisturizes my skin. Even though it helps to moisturize my skin, it doesn’t help to prevent redness or itchy skin. That’s something I’ve been dealing with for a while. Also, it’s so weird how sometimes it makes me breakout and sometimes it doesn’t. I’m already back to using it on my face without any clogged pores, lol.

My new moisturizer!! πŸ™‚

So I did the unthinkable. I picked up a product that I thought I would never touch again after having a terrible experience with it. I’ve been searching high and low for a moisturizer that’s at least affordable and works to moisturize my skin. I’m on a budget and can’t spend too much money right now. So I decided to try it again after researching for a moisturizer that I think could work or at least try it and see what happens. Whatever. I needed a moisturizer ASAP! My skin is in need of moisture! Since my skin has changed so much (compared to last year), I thought maybe it could work this time around. I’m giving it a second chance after that gruel, unpleasant experience with it. Guess what product it is?? Yup, it’s Vanicream Daily Facial Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin. I developed very bad acne the last time I used it. It was one of the many products that I tried last year that destroyed my skin within a week of use. I was traumatized and didn’t take it lightly. I was p*ssed. But it’s a new year and a lot of things have changed since. My skin has been behaving much better after I started eating meat again. So long those vegan years! πŸ‘‹πŸ» The last time I purchased Vanicream, I purchased it off of Amazon. I don’t recall the product being sealed. The Vanicream bottle I have right now, I purchased it from my local drugstore. The product is sealed at the opening. This is why I don’t buy majority of my skin care products off of Amazon anymore. It’s difficult to know what you’re going to get. New, used, old? Who knows! Now let’s see how this moisturizer works this time! πŸ˜€

Note: I’m thinking about removing some of the moisturizers listed if my new moisturizer works. I’m crossing my fingers that it will work because that’s way too many moisturizers for me, haha. Wish me luck!

New face wash…

Another product that I picked up is a facial cleanser. It’s the Olay Regenerist Hyaluronic + Peptide 24 Revitalizing Facial Cleanser. My current face wash contains tea tree oil, and it sometimes stings after my skin peels from my acne cream. It isn’t too bad, but I thought I would keep a creamy, more moisturizing face wash around just in case. This cleanser is formulated with hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and peptides. I’ve used other facial cleansers from Olay before with positive experiences…

Olay Regenerist Collagen Peptide 24 Cream Cleanser

Olay Regenerist Vitamin C Peptide 24 Brightening Facial Cleanser

I hope this facial cleanser goes well. πŸ‘πŸ»

Review: Olay Regenerist Collagen Peptide 24 Cream Cleanser

I’ve been using Olay Regenerist Collagen Peptide 24 Cream Cleanser for a month. I started off using it in the morning and night. It worked great! It helped clear out a bunch of stubborn closed comedones that wouldn’t budge. Left my skin feeling soft and smooth after each use. I wasn’t using it as a facial cleanser but an acne treatment. It contains salicylic acid, but it’s not known as an acne treatment or a salicylic acid treatment. I tried using it as a face wash when I first purchased it, but that didn’t work out. It clogged my pores terribly. I noticed pimples on my face very quick. This cleanser leaves an oily, fatty film behind on the skin. It just doesn’t leave the skin feeling clean after rinsing it off. If you have clog-prone skin, it’s a good idea to use another facial cleanser afterwards to make sure all of that grease is taken off of the skin. As an acne treatment, it’s wonderful! It worked to unclog pores. Finally, something that works to unclog these annoying, clogged pores that I’ve had for months! Possibly years!

So I continued using the cream cleanser for the next couple of weeks. My skin looked even better. A lot softer and smoother. It helped with the texture of my skin too. With this cream cleanser, even though the texture of product is heavy and moisturizing on the skin, it’s best to use it with a heavy duty moisturizer. Don’t be fooled just because it’s cream-based. It can dry out the skin. My skin became so dry when I was only using a lightweight moisturizer or no moisturizer with this product. Sorry, I couldn’t find a moisturizer that worked on my skin during that time. But it truly works better when used with a heavier moisturizer or layers of moisturizers (what I do, read more about what moisturizers I like by clicking the link!), since my skin is so finicky, lol. My skin didn’t feel dry at all, and I was able to use it twice a day with no irritation or redness. πŸ‘πŸ»

I loved the results of this product, but I decided to get back on tret. Read about my break from tret here! πŸ‘ˆπŸ» And get ready for an update on my experience with tret soon! It turns out Olay Regenerist Collagen Peptide 24 Cream Cleanser and tret don’t go well together. They’re both exfoliants, and my skin burns when I use Olay too often with tret. So I’m only using the cream cleanser a few times a week at night. Yes, I know this stuff helped my acne, but my skin has settled and is ready to take on tret again. It’s been a whole month off of tret. I think it’s time to reintroduce it back in. From my past experience, retinoids do wonders for my acne and skin texture. Other than that, this is a good product for the price and effectiveness. I’m still shocked ’til this day. I tried so many acne treatments over the years, and I saw noticeable results within 1 week of using this cream cleanser! I just didn’t expect it to work on my acne. I’m very impressed! I’ll keep it around, since it helps to improve my skin.

Review: Olay Regenerist Collagen Peptide 24 Cream Cleanser

Even though I couldn’t use Olay Regenerist Collagen Peptide 24 Cream Cleanser as a stand alone facial cleanser, I continued to use it because I have it. What am I to do with this facial cleanser? Throw it out? I think not! lol. I used Olay Regenerist Collagen Peptide 24 Cream Cleanser as a pre-cleanser. So I use the Olay cream cleanser first. Next, I use my daily cleanser to rinse off any residue left behind by the Olay cream cleanser. The Olay cream cleanser is notorious for leaving a thin layer of film behind on the skin. It doesn’t make a good facial cleanser at all. Well, on my skin it doesn’t. I have oily skin, and I need a facial cleanser that removes sebum, dirt, debris from my skin very thoroughly. This doesn’t cut it. But…

The cleanser feels so soft, velvety, and smooth on the skin. I always look forward to using it. I’m in love with the texture and consistency of the product. I just wish my skin could handle a creamy cleanser like this. It’s just so gentle on the skin and doesn’t irritate the skin at all. Well, besides the slight burning sensation in the beginning. Don’t worry, that stinging sensation eventually went away after a whole week of using it twice a day. It must be the salicylic acid in this product that’s doing that. Also, my skin isn’t as dry anymore using this cleanser, since it’s so creamy and rich. It leaves my skin more moisturized compared to using my main cleanser alone (PanOxyl Acne Foaming Wash 10%). The ingredients in this cleanser isn’t too bad either. It contains moisturizers, niacinamide, snow mushroom, and collagen peptides.

During the first week, I started to notice a breakout again even with cleansing my skin with another facial cleanser after using Olay cream cleanser. But these pimples were much different. It didn’t fill up my pores (what it did without following up with another facial cleanser). It was unclogging them. I can see closed comedones moving up to the surface, and my skin smoothing out. I spent so much time on prescription acne treatments, and I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. And this is working?? This is truly amazing. Salicylic acid usually doesn’t work on my acne, but this seems to be working. I just didn’t expect it. And it’s super affordable and accessible too. I’m hooked! Well, as long as it continues to clear up my skin!

So it seems like this facial cleanser (or treatment, what I use it as) is working on my acne. Who knew. I just purchased it to replace my facial cleanser, but I ended up with something that cleared up most of my leftover acne without drying my entire face out! I’m so happy! My skin isn’t fully clear yet, but it’s moving in that direction. I mean, it’s only been 1 week on this product. Salicylic acid takes time to work too. So far, I have some small areas that need to be cleared out, but I think it’s going to happen in a few weeks. Everyone, my skin is almost officially clear, and I’m ecstatic about the results!! I haven’t worn any makeup for the past weeks due to the brightness, smoothness, and how my clear my skin looks. I can’t wait to see results next week! A new update soon to see if it’s truly working! I like what I’m seeing after 1 week! πŸ˜€

Review: Olay Regenerist Collagen Peptide 24 Cream Cleanser

I’m on the search for a new face wash. Something that’s more hydrating and less drying. I’m currently using PanOxyl Acne Foaming Wash (10%). It works to clean my skin, but it can be drying sometimes. Still, I want something that doesn’t dry my skin out the more I use it. I’m looking for a more moisturizing facial cleanser that doesn’t strip my skin. So! I found Olay Regenerist Collagen Peptide 24 Cream Cleanser. The purpose of this cream cleanser is to gently exfoliate the skin, prepping it for other collagen peptide 24 products (sorry, this was the only product I purchased from the collagen peptide 24 line), contains niacinamide (vitamin b3) and collagen peptides. It’s fragrance-free, phthalates-free, mineral oil free, and free of synthetic dyes. Now here’s my experience with this face wash!

This is a cream cleanser, and it truly really is. The texture of the product is soft, creamy, and smooth. I was really excited to use it because of this. When applied to the skin, it feels soft and moisturizing. What I expected from a cream cleanser. It feels so creamy and dreamy on the skin. It stung my skin just a little bit. I wonder if it’s due to the salicylic acid that it contains. Yes, it contains salicylic acid, which helps to exfoliate the skin within the pores! I wonder if it’ll be good for acne! I haven’t found a salicylic acid product that works on my skin just yet. This cream cleanser also contains tiny little granules to exfoliate the skin. It’s not harsh on the skin at all. The creaminess of the cleanser prevents the granules from being too rough on the skin. I don’t think it did anything for my skin, so it was just there. It didn’t irritate my skin.

Other than that, I really liked how it felt on my skin. It didn’t dry out my skin and left it feeling hydrated after rinsing the product off. But, unfortunately, it didn’t leave my skin feeling clean. There was a thin layer of product left behind on my skin. So this face wash felt too lubricating and fatty on my skin. It contains fatty alcohols, such as stearyl alcohol and cetyl alcohol. I like the niacinamide and peptides, but it’s obviously not the right facial cleanser for my skin type. I ended up with clogged pores due to it not rinsing off clean. This was within a couple of days of using it. I love how the cleanser feels gentle on the skin and moisturizes my skin, but I need something that cleans my skin thoroughly. I guess I’m back to PanOxyl Acne Foaming Wash.

βœ… Pros

❌ Cons

I didn’t get to use the facial cleanser long enough to see if the salicylic acid in this product did anything for my acne. Well, that’s too bad, lol. But, overall, the cleanser was just too heavy for my skin type. I have oily skin, but I was dealing with some skin dryness. I thought this facial cleanser could help a bit with the dryness. Nope. I developed more breakouts due to it not cleaning my skin good enough. So, I won’t purchase it again. It seems like it could work for someone with normal or dry skin without any skin issues. It’s not for me. Moving on…
