Review: iUNIK Tea Tree Relief Serum

iUNIK Tea Tree Relief Serum

I’m currently using iUNIK serums. They are the Propolis Vitamin Synergy Serum and Black Snail Restore Serum. Go here to read more about them! I do have the Tea Tree Relief too. I first purchased it because it’s a tea tree serum. I thought it could at least help with my acne (during that time). So this serum contains 67% tea tree extract and 19.5% centella extract. Both of these ingredients help to soothe the skin, reduce acne, brighten the complexion, and refine skin texture. On the label of the product, it states powerful relief, natural moisturizing, soothing care, brightening, and wrinkle care. I’ve had this serum for as long as I can remember. Possibly around the same time as the other iUNIK serums. Now I’m here to share my experience with the tea tree serum!

This serum is mint green in color. It looks really pretty. I was intrigued by it. But, it was really the tea tree that drew me in. I wanted a serum that’s moisturizing and helps to reduce acne. And tea tree seems to work for my skin type. So, this serum doesn’t contain pure tea tree (or tea tree oil). Looking at the ingredients, it contains Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Water. It’s the diluted version of tea tree. It won’t be as strong and effective as actual tea tree oil. But that’s ok. Let’s get into the feel and effectiveness of the product!

I use about 1-2 drops for the whole face and neck area. It feels just like the other iUNIK serums. It’s soft, gentle on the skin, moisturizing. It has a stickiness to it. But it absorbed into the skin quite well leaving the skin feeling soft, glowy, and simply just hydrated. I liked the way the serum felt on my skin. After a few weeks of using this serum, I noticed tiny little clogged pores. I looked at the ingredients again. It contains wheat germ extract. Yeah, I should’ve known but sometimes skin care products work even if it contains comdeogenic ingredients. I wanted to try it out anyways, lol. Well, I stopped using this serum on my face because of the breakouts. It didn’t work for my face, unfortunately.

The product does sound promising. It contains other ingredients like centella, niacinamide, licorice, and a bunch of other extracts that’s good for the skin. I just can’t use products with wheat germ extract. SO! I think it’s very similar to the other iUNIK serums. They all seem to do the same thing. And that is to moisturize, soothe the skin, and leaves the skin feeling softer. I haven’t noticed brightening from any of them (including the tea tree). It’s a good moisturizing serum. And if you don’t have any issues with the other ingredients in this product and want a tea tree product, this may work. I can’t use it due to the wheat germ extract, lol.

βœ… Pros

❌ Cons

The tea tree was my least favorite out of the three (Propolis Vitamin Synergy, Black Snail Restore, Tea Tree) iUNIK serums I have used. The tea tree didn’t help with my acne. I think it’s too weak to do anything. I have major acne issues. I need something more potent and actually does something. I need to feel and see the changes, lol. With the tea tree iUNIK serum, all it does is just soothe and moisturize. That’s what my other iUNIK serums do too. After my experience with iUNIK Tea Tree Relief Serum, I won’t purchase again. I didn’t really like it.

Update on My Moisturizers :)

Moisturizers

Here’s an update on my moisturizers. Moisturizing my skin has helped so much with skin dryness, flaky skin, and just skin that looks aged. My skin looked so bad without moisturizing. I knew that I needed to moisturize my skin, but I couldn’t find a moisturizer or a set of moisturizers that worked on my skin. I have problematic skin. It’s genetics. I have very oily skin that’s easily clogs. So I’m battling to keep my skin pimple-free at the same time. It’s tough. Not easy at all when so many moisturizers are pore-clogging and just not suitable for my skin type. But here I am with a set of moisturizers that I use. I talked about them in my first moisturizer post. Now here’s an update on what I think about each product.

⭐ Cosrx Hyaluronic Acid Hydra Power Essence

I still love this essence. It’s still not the most hydrating, but I still like it for what it is. It gives my skin some moisture, doesn’t break me out, and sits on my skin nicely. It’s a good option for people with oily skin. It doesn’t leave the skin looking shiny or greasy. It absorbs into the skin very well. I’ve been using this essence twice a day without any issues. It’s a staple in my routine now. Love it!

⭐ Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence

Unlike Cosrx Hyaluronic Acid Hydra Power Essence, I don’t use the Snail Mucin Essence every day. It’s too moisturizing on my skin. My skin starts to act up when I use it too often. This is something I use 1-2 times a week or when my skin feels drier than usual. Sometimes I use it in the morning if I need it, but I prefer to keep it at night.

⭐ Benton Aloe Propolis Soothing Gel

Since my skin is getting a little bit more sensitive, I can feel this moisturizer burning my skin, lol. But I’m still using it, hah! It’s a nice soothing aloe gel (when it doesn’t sting the skin). It absorbs into the skin well and leaves it somewhat moisturized. The moisture doesn’t last long, but it’s something to use that doesn’t cause breakouts. The smell of the product is getting to me though. It has a weird scent to it that I’m not fond out.

⭐ Cosrx Ultimate Nourishing Rice Overnight Spa Mask

The most moisturizing moisturizer I use is the Cosrx Ultimate Nourishing Rice Overnight Spa Mask. I love how it leaves my skin moisturized. But did it leave my skin looking brighter? I’m not impressed with the brightness. I was hoping it’ll fade some acne marks, since it contains rice extract and niacinamide, but I haven’t seen much. It does a great job at keeping my dry skin moisturized. It does feel a little bit oily though. This moisturizer is not oil-free, by the way. It contains sunflower seed oil, palm oil, and palm kernel oil. I can’t believe I’ve lasted this long using this product, lol.

⭐ Cosrx Oil-Free Ultra-Moisturizing Lotion (with Birch Sap)

This is the latest moisturizer I added to my moisturizing routine. This is on par with Cosrx Ultimate Nourishing Rice Overnight Spa Mask in terms of moisture. It leaves the skin so moisturized without making the skin look like a greasy mess. It also contains lemon peel and tea tree oil. I wish tea tree oil wasn’t at the end of the ingredient list. Tea tree oil is one of my favorite natural acne-fighting ingredients. It helps to tame my acne. I used to use a tea tree oil face wash that worked wonders for my skin for so many years. I miss it! But this moisturizer has done my skin good. I like it. πŸ™‚

Finding the Perfect Moisturizer & What I Use!

Moisturizers

I have trouble finding a good moisturizer for my skin type. It’s oily, but it’s also acne-prone. Finding a moisturizer that tames the oilies in my skin and doesn’t clog my pores isn’t an easy task. I see people slathering themselves in hydrating skin care products all the time, but I’m left here to suffer with dry skin that’s problematic at the same time. Yeah, I really want some of that moisture in my skin too (hehe), but it’s not as easy as it seems. So I’ve been on the search for a moisturizer for so many years and failing each time. A moisturizer works great for the first few days but ends up breaking me out by mid-week. It’s not fun. Sometimes the breakouts were so bad that I stopped using an actual moisturizer. Yes, moisturizing is important, but the experience can be disappointing when nothing ever works. So I’ve rounded up a list of hydrating essences and moisturizers that somehow managed to work on my skin (just a little bit) without causing my skin to erupt in cystic acne or closed comedones. I dread those suckers!! First, I started off with Purito Centella Green Level Buffet Serum to hydrate my skin but needed a more moisturizing product after noticing that it wasn’t giving my skin the proper moisture that it needs. This is what I use! Here they are!

β˜… Cosrx Hyaluronic Acid Hydra Power Essence

This essence isn’t bad. It’s just not the most hydrating and can potentially dry the skin out. It needs moisture to keep the skin hydrated. I tried using it on my damp skin, but that didn’t work for me. I noticed blackheads on my face. But it seems to do just fine without applying it to damp skin. It works for what it is. And I know it doesn’t clog my pores. It’s just not that hydrating as the name of the product says. lol. I keep this essence around, since it’s not too bad, and it’s an affordable hyaluronic acid product.

β˜… Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence

This essence has the potential to clog my pores, but that’s if I use it too often during the week. So I use it only a few times a week at night. I avoid using it during the day due to the stickiness of the product, and my skin is more oily during the day vs night. It’s more moisturizing compared to Cosrx Hyaluronic Acid Hydra Power Essence, so it does a better job at keeping my skin moisturized. It’s nice to keep it around just in case my skin feels drier than usual. It’s a lightweight essence that absorbs into the skin very quick even though it’s sticky. Try it, you’ll see what I’m talking about.

β˜… Benton Aloe Propolis Soothing Gel

I stopped using Benton Aloe Propolis Soothing Gel because it was burning my exfoliated skin. Since my skin is back to normal, I decided to include it in my routine. It’s not the most moisturizing product, but it doesn’t irritate or break me out. It’s also one of the products that contain Propolis that doesn’t clog my pores. All of the other Propolis skin care products I’ve used gave me acne. It may or may not be Propolis but the other ingredients in those particular products. This aloe gel feels soothing on the skin. It’s just not that moisturizing, and the moisture doesn’t last for too long. I prefer to use it in the morning instead of night. But sometimes I sneak it in at night when I need to soothe my skin or give it a little bit more moisture. It feels very nice on the skin.

β˜… Cosrx Ultimate Nourishing Rice Overnight Spa Mask

Cosrx Ultimate Nourishing Rice Overnight Spa Mask is the best out of the bunch that leaves the skin moisturized, especially for oily skin. It helped nourish my skin, kept it moisturized, and brightened my skin a bit. It’s weird. I have a on-and-off relationship with this moisturizer. I said I wouldn’t try it again (lol), but it was sitting there glaring at me. So I did. My skin was dry. l used it. haha. Let’s see how long the brightening effect lasts! BUT, I’m really in it for the moisture. Unfortunately, I can’t use this moisturizer too often, since it’s pretty moisturizing on my skin. I take a day or two off using this moisturizer when my skin gets too oily. Moisturizing is good but too much can also be bad.
