Review: La Roche Posay Toleriane Double Repair Matte Face Moisturizer for Oily Skin
I talked about having a new moisturizer, but I haven’t talked about it yet. My new moisturizer is the La Roche Posay Toleriane Double Repair Matte Face Moisturizer for Oily Skin. This moisturizer is supposed to help with all day hydration without shine, helps to repair the skin barrier after 1 hour, minimizes the size of visible pores, improves skin texture, and reduces fine lines. It’s oil-free, alcohol-free, fragrance-free, non-comedogenic (won’t cause breakouts), allergy-tested, and paraben-free. Did it work? I’ve been using it for 2 weeks. It’s not a large amount of time, but here are my current thoughts on this product!
My experience with La Roche Posay Toleriane Double Repair Matte Face Moisturizer for Oily Skin:
Texture & Application
The product feels soft and moisturizing when applied to the skin. It’s lightweight, thin, doesn’t feel heavy or greasy on the skin. It’s easy to smooth it over the face. I wouldn’t try to aggressively rub this moisturizer into the skin. It pills. To successfully apply this moisturizer, smooth it over the skin and pat it into the skin. Do not rub. I’ve actually prevented product pilling by following this method. The moisturizer helps to moisturize the skin, but it’s not the best moisturizer if you have dry skin. On the bottle, it says ‘For Oily, Combination Skin’. It truly is for oily, combination skin. I have oily skin, and this moisturizer wasn’t too bad. But, I couldn’t use it alone when using my acne products or chemical exfoliants. I had to add an essence or serum underneath the moisturizer, which helped to boost moisture in my skin. As for sebum-control, it somewhat helps to minimize oily skin but don’t rely on it to control excess oil. The oil-control when using this product is much better compared to other moisturizers I have tried.
Results…
All day hydration without shine?
It’s a lightweight moisturizer. It may not be enough moisture for some people. It actually did leave my skin looking shiny by the end of the day. My skin is always oily anyways, lol.
Repair the skin barrier after 1 hour?
This moisturizer is terrible at repairing the skin barrier. It’s way too lightweight and not moisturizing enough. When healing my skin barrier, I had to use another moisturizer. This one wasn’t moisturizing or rich enough.
Minimizes the size of visible pores?
No. I didn’t notice any minimization of visible pores.
Improves skin texture?
No. I didn’t notice an improvement in skin texture.
Reduces fine lines?
No. I didn’t notice a reduction in fine lines.
Breakouts?
It didn’t break me out. It feels lightweight when applied to the skin. It doesn’t leave my skin feeling greasy or tacky. It contains beneficial skin care ingredients like betaine, niacinamide, ceramide np, and sodium hyaluronate. The oil absorbing powders are silica and perlite. I didn’t have any issues with the ingredients. I just wished that it was more moisturizing, was better at controlling excess sebum, and most of all, doesn’t pill. Overall, my skin tolerated this product pretty well when it comes to acne.
Final Thoughts
One of the moisturizers that actually worked on my skin! I didn’t have any skin irritations or breakouts from it. It didn’t clog my pores after using it for 2 weeks. I started off using it only at night. Tried using it in the morning. Now I’m using it twice a day, morning and night. I don’t use this moisturizer by itself. The reason why is because it’s not moisturizing enough as I mentioned so many times before. Whenever I use it as a stand alone moisturizer, my skin doesn’t retain that much moisture. So what I do is use an essence (can be a serum too, what worked for me just happened to be an essence) before I use the moisturizer. Each time I have done this, my skin feels nourished and moisturized. I have oily skin, so I don’t need too much moisture. Just enough for my skin to be happy. It’s disappointing that I didn’t experience other benefits that this moisturizer claims to do like repairing the moisturizer barrier after 1 hour, minimizing the size of visible pores, improving skin texture, and reducing fine lines. But, I haven’t found or used a moisturizer that does any of those things. I was just looking for a moisturizer that doesn’t clog my pores and moisturizes my skin. My skin just needed some moisture to not feel or look taut or dry at this time of the year. So this moisturizer works for the time being. The ingredients in this product isn’t too bad either. It contains beneficial skin care ingredients (ceramide np, niacinamide, sodium hyaluronate). I’m just really happy that I didn’t get breakouts using it.
This is what the moisturizer looks like. This is how much I usually use. It was a large pea-size, but it’s smoothed out. It seems to look much bigger in the photo, lol. I don’t need to use a lot of product to moisturize my face with this product. I wouldn’t want to anyways. It’ll just increase the chances of product pilling. Keep in mind that this moisturizer comes in a 75 mL (2.5 fl. oz.) bottle. I would also like to mention that the product was not filled all the way to the top of the bottle when it was new.

1 Month Update on Vanicream Daily Facial Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin
I remember picking this moisturizer up and hoping that it’ll become my main moisturizer. The ingredients look sooo good, the price was also not too bad, and it’s accessible where I live. All points lined up and was perfect. Here’s a quick snapshot of the moisturizer: It’s a rich, lightweight lotion that provides effective moisturization for day or night. It’s formulated with 5 key ceramides and hyaluronic acid to hydrate and retain skin’s moisture. It leaves the skin feeling soft and deeply moisturized while still being lightweight and suitable to wear under makeup. It’s free of dyes, fragrance, masking fragrance, lanolin, parabens, formaldehyde, and other preservatives. It’s non-comedogenic and gluten-free. That sounds like a dream come true moisturizer. So it’s been 1 month using Vanicream Daily Facial Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin. Here are my thoughts and experience with this moisturizer.
Texture & Application
This moisturizer is a lotion. It’s not a cream. The texture of the product is soft and smooth. It’s on the thicker side. The moisturizer glides on the skin smoothly without tugging at the skin. It takes a little bit of time to blend the lotion into the skin, but the moisturizer eventually blends into the skin. It vanishes into the skin nicely. After applying the moisturizer, the finish of the moisturizer is sticky. It doesn’t feel like it fully absorbs into the skin. It sits on top of the skin, which can feel uncomfortable and bothersome. I didn’t like the stickiness of the lotion. It made my skin feel unclean and just plain annoying. As someone with oily skin, I thought the lotion was heavy and thick on the skin. I wish it was more lightweight and absorbed into the skin better. Even when my skin was feeling a little more dry, I still thought the product was heavy and thick on the skin. The product claims to be lightweight, but it’s not. This moisturizer worked pretty well underneath my makeup. My makeup went on better. Much smoother. It just glides across my facial skin much more easily. It made my skin appear softer, smoother, and flawless.
Heals & Protects
This moisturizer is very good at healing and protecting the skin. It contains ceramides, hyaluronic acid, and squalane. I loved the ingredients in this product. The ingredients were the perfect combination for my skin and helped to heal my skin from my acne treatments/chemical exfoliants. It help to strengthen my moisture barrier when it’s damaged or experiencing a burning sensation. Out of all of the moisturizers that I have used to heal my skin, Vanicream Daily Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin was the only one that worked so far (after trying a bunch of moisturizing skin care products!!). My skin didn’t feel dry, red, or irritated after using it. On occasion, if my moisture barrier is damaged, it did burn upon application, but it wasn’t too bad. This product was the least irritating as of yet. It sat uncomfortably on my skin after it settled down. With this moisturizer, my moisture barrier felt healthy after each use. On my skin, it was extremely moisturizing. I was so happy that I had found a moisturizer that improved my skin over time.
Clogs pores??
I didn’t notice clogged pores at first, but I noticed clogged pores after using it for a month. Maybe they were there before and I was in denial, lol. I really wanted this moisturizer to work since it helped to moisturize my skin, not just lightly hydrate it. It did an amazing job at protecting my skin from dryness and irritation. But, unfortunately, the clogged pores became noticeable as time went on. I developed blackheads and tons of sebaceous filaments. Some of the blemishes were not noticeable until I stopped using the moisturizer. My skin started to break out in acne. After the acne appeared, they started to clear up rapidly. My skin became less oily and clogged. Blackheads diminished on my nose. So, this moisturizer ended up clogging my pores in the long run. Shocking? Not so much. I haven’t found a moisturizer that moisturizes my skin in years. And I still haven’t found one that works well on my skin. *sigh* Back to the drawing board…maybe…haha.
Final Thoughts
Another moisturizer down, I guess, lol. I think I’m done searching for a moisturizer for my face right now. It’s getting really annoying using a moisturizer for a month and experiencing negative side effects afterwards thinking that it was working. 😮💨 Even though it didn’t work on my face, I’m not going to remove it from my routine. I like the ingredients in this product (ceramides and hyaluronic acid), and it helps to protect and heal my skin. It works very well as a moisturizer at an affordable price. I’m using it as an eye cream and neck/chest cream instead. It works even better than my eye creams that are eye creams. Also, I’m keeping it around to use on my face (yup!) when I’m treating my skin with my acne treatment/chemical exfoliants, which isn’t often. I just can’t use it daily as a facial moisturizer, which is kinda funny since it’s called a ‘Daily Facial Moisturizer’. In my opinion, I don’t think this moisturizer is entirely bad. I mean, I’m still using it. I like the product, but it’s a bummer that it didn’t work on my face as a daily facial moisturizer.

Review: Cosrx Advanced Snail 92 All in One Cream
It’s been a year without Cosrx Advanced Snail 92 All in One Cream. I decided to try it out again. My neck was getting super dry and itchy, and I needed something that would fix that itch real quick. I tried using CeraVe Moisturizing Cream, but it didn’t help much. I needed something more effective. So this cream is a snail-based product. Yeah, that doesn’t sound pleasant, but snail mucin has many skin care benefits like replenishing hydration levels and softens rough skin. Good for tired complexions and is suitable for all skin types but especially dehydrated skin. It not only hydrates the skin but brightens and supports healthy skin repair. Nourishes and helps to reduce redness. Also, supports skin elasticity and plumps up the skin. This cream has a pH of 5.5-6.5. Dermatologist-tested. Hypoallergenic. Paraben-free. Sulfate-free, Phthalate-free, Alcohol-free. It sounds like a miracle cream. We’ll see about that! So I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now. Here’s my experience with this cream so far!
My experience
I’ve been using this snail cream at night. I don’t use it on my face. Just my neck. It contains Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, which my skin dislikes. I get really bad closed comedones when I use products with this ingredient. I try my best to avoid it. From my prior experience with this snail cream, it did clog my pore on my face. So that’s why I’m not using it on my facial skin. Lesson learned. After a few weeks of using this cream on my neck, my skin isn’t dry anymore. I used it once and woke up the next morning with skin that’s extremely moisturized. The itchiness went away and skin just went back to normal. It made my skin feel softer and a lot smoother. This cream is working a lot better compared to my other moisturizers. It does have a sticky, slimy texture to it. It makes it hard to use the product. The product also comes in a jar, so it’s not sanitary. I make sure to wash my hands before I dip my fingers into the jar anyways. Maybe they should change the packaging of this product into a tube instead. That would make it a lot easier to use the product. Just a thought. Overall, my experience with this cream has been good. I like how it helped with skin dryness, itchiness, and just made my skin feel calm and soothes it. I love that there’s no fragrance to this cream. It doesn’t smell like anything. Amazing. Wow, I’m falling in love with this snail cream once again. It’s super effective.
A jar of snail slime! 🐌
Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Contains 92% snail mucin and hyaluronic acid
- Super moisturizing
- Leaves the skin feeling soft and nourished
- Great nighttime moisturizer
- Absorbs into the skin nicely
- Results the next morning
❌ Cons
- May cause breakouts if you’re prone to breakouts (face)
- Comes in a jar
- Difficult to retrieve product from jar due the sticky texture of the product
Conclusion
I didn’t think I would like this snail cream this time. But I was so happy when I noticed that the skin on my neck wasn’t itchy anymore. Also, my skin became super soft, smooth, and just so nourished. I haven’t broken out in a rash with this product. Amazing. I have a very sensitive neck, and it seems like it can only tolerate gentle facial products and not products made for the body. I like the results I’m seeing, so I’m going to continue to use this cream. I love it so far! I highly recommend trying it out if you’re interested!
