August Skin Care Empties! 🧴

Cosrx Galactomyces 95 Tone Balancing Essence

Here are some products I finished in the month of August! These products are no longer with me! Finally. 😆 I’ve been trying to finish them since forever. It’s about time that they’re done and gone. They were taking up a lot of space too. haha. I still have a bunch more skin care products to use up. I’ll talk about them some other time. Today, here are my thoughts on what I’ve finished! Enjoy! 🙂

Cosrx Galactomyces 95 Tone Balancing Essence:

I finally finished Cosrx Galactomyces 95 Tone Balancing Essence. It’s a moisturizing essence, but I don’t need it. I didn’t see any changes using it on my facial skin. It’s simply just moisturizing. Nothing special. It didn’t brighten up my skin either. It didn’t make it more radiant or clear. I prefer other moisturizers and essences compared to this one. In my opinion, the Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence is so much better in terms of moisture. The Snail Essence also leaves the skin feel and looking more moisturized and dewy. It has definitely helped boost moisture in my skin in combination with other moisturizers I use. My skin prefers it over the Galactomyces Essence.

Eucerin Q10 Anti-Wrinkle Face Lotion SPF 15:

This is a moisturizing sunscreen (SPF 15) that’s very gentle on the skin. It absorbs nicely into the skin. Leaves my skin feeling very moisturized. But, I couldn’t use it on my face. It’s too pore-clogging and way too moisturizing. I had issues with it on my facial skin. I ended up using it only on my neck and upper chest. Once I finished it, I knew I wasn’t going to purchase it again. SPF 15? Pore-clogging? No thanks. There are better sunscreens out there. This one isn’t worth my time and money.

Cos De BAHA MA Peptide Facial Toner:

I had this facial toner for a while. It’s a gel-like, moisturizing facial toner. It’s not your typical drying facial toner. I liked the ingredients in this toner. It contains sodium hyaluronate, peptides, beta-glucan, adenosine, and so much more. But I didn’t notice much of a difference in my skin while using it. All it really did was moisturize my skin for a short period of time. It doesn’t provide long-lasting moisture in the skin. I stopped using it on my face because I thought it was an extra step for little benefits. Now I’m glad I’m done with it. Out it goes!

La Roche-Posay Lipikar Balm AP+ Intense Repair Moisturizing Cream:

I received this product as a sample. It’s a moisturizing cream that’s supposed to reduce dry, rough skin. Honestly, it felt like any other moisturizer that I’ve used. I can’t tell if it provided more hydration than my other moisturizers/creams. But it didn’t irritate my skin. It left my skin feeling moisturized just like my other moisturizers. This cream contains shea butter, niacinamide, and glycerin, which I do love besides the niacinamide. My skin doesn’t care for niacinamide so I learned after using products with niacinamide. I thought this cream was OK. I don’t think I’m going to purchase the full-size product any time soon. It was nice to use for the time being or at least try it out.

Graymelin Pineapple Mild Peeling Gel:

This is a peeling gel that I was very excited about at first. After using it and finishing the whole tube, it’s not worth it at all. This product didn’t do anything for my skin. It’s so gentle and doesn’t really exfoliate the skin. I had noticeable dead skin on my face and thought this product could help. Nope, it did not. It did absolutely nothing. I still had dead skin hanging off of my face afterwards. Ugh, I can’t recommend this product to anyone. No results. Honestly, in my opinion, peeling gels are just for fun. It doesn’t do anything for the skin. On my skin, at least I didn’t see any benefits. I won’t purchase it again.

CeraVe Moisturizing Cream:

I finally finished all of my CeraVe Moisturizing Creams. I didn’t use it on my face due to fear of closed comedones. CeraVe and my skin don’t go well together either from my past experiences with the brand. I’ve tried plenty of their products too. So I used the CeraVe Moisturizing Cream as a body lotion instead. The cream feels lightweight, but it does leave some sort of thin film behind on the skin that I didn’t like. I didn’t think it left my skin feeling super moisturized either. To me, there was nothing special about it. I love some of the ingredients in the cream, but it didn’t deliver in the end. I was just using it to finish the product. In my opinion, I think this cream is overhyped. I won’t purchase again any time soon. I’m glad I’m done with it. It’s time to move on.

Which Galactomyces Is Right For You?

Galactomyces Skin Care

I have three galactomyces products in my routine. I thought I would just use them all. It’s better to use them than not use them. I really don’t like wasting skin care products. It has to be used, lol. So I started with Benton Fermentation Essence first to see if it works. Next, Purito Galacto Niacin 97 Power Essence. Lastly, Cosrx Galactomyces 95 Tone Balancing Essence. I thought galactomyces gave me acne when I used it before, but it turns out that I haven’t had any new acne or clogged pores from galactomyces. I’m very happy about the outcome after trying it again. So, I’m using all three in my routine. Am I going to continue to use all three? Probably not. But each galactomyces product is very different from one another. They have differences but also similarities. I’m here to breakdown each product and compare them. The pros and cons of each. This way, you can choose which one works best for you if you’re interested in galactomyces and its benefits!! Let’s start off with the Benton Fermentation Essence! 🙂

Benton Fermentation Essence:

This is the first galactomyces skin care product I reintroduced into my skin care routine. My experience with it was terrible when I used it sometime last year. I developed really bad acne. Lots of blackheads out of the blue. My skin was covered in blemishes after adding this essence into my routine. This time, nope, nothing. I haven’t experienced any breakouts or blackheads at all from this essence. AMAZING!! I’ve always wanted this essence to work due to the ingredients it contains. It has galactomyces ferment filtrate, bifida ferment lysate, ceramide, aloe barbadensis leaf extract, panthenol, sodium hyaluronate, peptide, to name a few. The texture of the essence is what gets me. It’s a liquid, but the texture and consistency of the product is soft, silky, and smooth. It just leaves the skin feeling so soft to touch. It glides over the facial skin so nicely. Feels very lightweight on the skin. It also absorbs into the skin very quick. It leaves the skin feeling pampered and more youthful-looking. This essence is definitely my favorite out of the three. 🥰 With all the positives, there are the negatives. The pump applicator is annoying. The pump shoots out straight, so make sure you’re aiming directly into your palm, lol. Also, it only provides lightweight temporary hydration. You’ll have to find another moisturizer to actually keep the skin moisturized.

Purito Galacto Niacin 97 Power Essence:

Here’s another galactomyces essence that is lightweight and absorbs into the skin well. You know, I wasn’t going to start using this essence again, but I didn’t want to waste it. I had a full bottle of the essence, so I thought I would use it anyways. So this essence contains 92% galactomyces ferment filtrate, 5% niacinamide (yay!), bifida ferment lysate, lactobacillus ferment, and other ingredients like arginine and adenosine, which are really good for the skin too. The ingredient list is very short and simple. You know exactly what you’re getting into. As for results, this is the only galactomyces essence that has brightened my skin (most likely from the 5% niacinamide it contains). I noticed a brightening effect in my skin very quick. My overall complexion just looked more glowy and more even toned. Even though I liked the results, I’m not sure if it’s something I want to use long term. I still have time to figure this out because I have one more bottle of this essence left. Ugh! Yeah, I purchased one too many. BUT! I shall update on my progress as I continue to use the product. Overall, it’s nice galactomyces essence that helps to brighten the skin. I didn’t have any acne breakouts from it. All is going well so far!

By the way, this essence helped to decrease the excess sebum in my skin. From experience, this essence would be more suitable for someone with oily skin, but it could work for other skin types too. Sometimes I thought it was a bit drying, but it didn’t bother me too much. It seemed to work for my skin due to the oily nature of it. It’s oily most of the time, haha.

Cosrx Galactomyces 95 Tone Balancing Essence:

This is a pretty simple galactomyces essence. Just like the Purito Galacto Niacin 97 Power Essence. The ingredient list is also pretty short and simple. It contains galactomyces ferment filtrate, niacinamide, sodium hyaluronate, betaine, panthenol, to name a few. So this galactomyces essence feels lightweight on the skin. It sinks into the skin nicely and actually leaves the skin feeling moisturized. Hydration from this essence doesn’t last for long though, but it gives the skin some moisture (in an instant). With this essence, I didn’t feel or visually see improvements in my skin. It contains niacinamide, but I didn’t notice a brightening effect or a more even complexion (when compared to Purito Galacto Niacin 97 Power Essence). That was a huge disappointment. But, good news, no breakouts from this essence! Out of the three, this was my least favorite. I most likely won’t pruchase the Cosrx Galactomyces 95 Tone Balancing Essence again. I think it’s too plain for me, and it didn’t do much for my skin. I already have other moisturizers that I use that does an equal or better job at keeping my skin hydrated.

That’s an update on what I think about the galactomyces skin care products I’m using. I hope this was helpful. If you missed out on my past posts on galactomyces, I’ve provided the links below. Enjoy. ✨

Cosrx Galactomyces 95 Tone Balancing Essence

I’ve been using Cosrx Galactomyces 95 Tone Balancing Essence for a couple of years now. I can’t believe it’s been that long. I’m here to share my experience with this product! Before I do, let’s learn more about the essence! It’s formulated with 95% Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate. This ingredient helps to nourish and hydrate the skin. It makes the skin appear radiant and clear. It brightens and smooths dull skin. Helps to minimize the look of dark spots and hyperpigmentation. Reduces the appearance of fine lines. The product is free of parabens, alcohol, phthalates, and sulfates. Now here’s my experience and results with Cosrx Galactomyces 95 Tone Balancing Essence!

The product is 3.38 fl. oz. (100 mL). It’s the same size as the other Cosrx skin care products that I’ve used, such as Cosrx Oil-Free Ultra-Moisturizing Lotion (with Birch Sap), Cosrx Hyaluronic Acid Hydra Power Essence, and Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence. <<< Click the links to check out my posts on these products!! Some of them are my HG! Now back to the Galactomyces 95 Tone Balancing Essence! This essence is watery when dispensed from the bottle. It’s a pump bottle, by the way. I only use 1 pump for each application. That’s more than enough product. It absorbs into the skin very nicely. It simply just vanishes into the skin and leaves the skin feeling clean and moisturized. I loved how lightweight this essence is on my facial skin. It doesn’t leave any residue behind and doesn’t feel sticky either.

So I first started out using this essence on my face, but I had to stop. It’s because I learned that my facial skin can’t tolerate galactomyces. I’ve tried other skin care products (more reviews coming soon!) with galactomyces, and my skin broke out. I would get tiny little closed comedones all over my face, especially my forehead. I would also develop blackheads out of the blue. The outcome was just terrible. But, from my past experience from using the essence on my face, it did help provide a good amount of moisture to my skin. I don’t recall it brightening my skin or fading acne marks/post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. It didn’t help with fine lines and wrinkles. It was just a very hydrating essence. Much better compared to what I’m using right now — Cosrx Hyaluronic Acid Hydra Powder Essence and Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence. Too bad, my skin rejected it. haha.

Since I can’t use it on my facial skin, what am I doing with it now??

I’m using it on my upper body or any dry areas on the rest of my body. I’m trying to use it up, lol. Even though this product moisturizes the skin very well, I don’t see the point of purchasing it again just for that purpose. I have other less expensive moisturizers that moisturize my skin without costing too much.

Here’s a quick summary of the ingredients in this product:

Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate, Niacinamide, Sodium Hyaluronate, Betaine, Panthenol, Glycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Allantoin, Butylene Glycol, Xanthan Gum, Ethyl Hexanediol, Adenosine

The ingredient list is very short and simple. Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate being the first ingredient. It also contains niacinamide, sodium hyaluronate, and panthenol.

✅ Pros

❌ Cons

I would love to keep this essence in my routine for the moisture it provides the skin. But, unfortunately, it’s not compatible with my skin type. Galactomyces and my skin just don’t go well together. I get crazy clogged pores from left to right in a matter of days after using this particular skin care ingredient. If your skin can handle galactomyces, this is a nice lightweight, hydrating essence. As I mentioned before, I didn’t see any other benefit besides the essence moisturizing my skin.
