Here’s my update on The Ordinary Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2%! I’m already about halfway through the bottle and no oxidation. This time I placed it in a very dark area. The serum is still clear as when I opened it. ๐Ÿ™‚ That’s the positive note. On to the negatives…

I really liked this serum because it’s simple. It only contains 3 ingredients. But as I continued to use it, I noticed that it wasn’t compatible with my skin. I stopped using it in the morning. The serum felt too oily, sat on my skin, and dried out my skin at the same time. It’s werid. So I decided to use it at night only. I was using it every night when I wasn’t on BP. Once I started using BP, I used it on days when I wasn’t using BP. The results were pretty much the same. It felt oily, drying, and sat on my skin. The oiliness really got to me. I think it contributed to sebum plugs. Every time I used the serum, I would get more closed comedones and sebum plugs. It didn’t help to brighten my skin or even it out. I have so many freckles and none of them faded. Nothing changed. I’ve been using this serum for almost a year now. I haven’t seen significant changes. I’m better off just leaving my skin alone than using it. At least I won’t get new breakouts and heal. I’m going to stop using this. I’m over it.

I officially finished my first bottle of The Ordinary Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2%!! It took me a little over half a year to finish the whole thing! Here are my thoughts on this product! I started off using this vitamin c serum in the morning only for several months. I eventually decided to use it in the morning and night. I chose to use it at night too because vitamin c in the form of ascorbic acid oxidizes rather quickly. I don’t want to risk spoiling my vitamin c serum. After using it for 6 months (can’t believe it lasted for this long!!), I can’t tell if it has done anything for my skin. I use a combination of vitamin c products to help with acne marks and overall brightening of the skin. I can definitely say that this serum has not clogged my pores. It ONLY has three ingredients in it. And none of those ingredients gives me acne. That’s what I love about this serum. I really like the fact that it’s very affordable compared to other brands out there too. I think I’m going to keep using it because the ingredients look good, and it’s not that expensive. My skin looks pretty good with it in my skin care routine. No damage done. I’m ready to open a new bottle. ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜Š
